Hate so many of you guys weren't around in the "dark ages" of the 60's, 70's and early 80's....when "huge" SEC stadiums meant 55,000 (OP and MSUcks were 33,000)...when we knew we had a chance to win ANY game because of our defense (yeah, and we could lose ANY game also, per the article)...and we always went to Starkpatch and Oxfart with confidence, yelling "go to Hayell Ole Miss" (at any game), and loved reading the excuses in the Clarion Liar after another OP or Fail State loss.

Nowadays the 100,000 seat stadiums, the huge TV contracts and the continued buying of the best players has left us in, how you say, a bit of a funk.

Howevah...anyone who saw the 38-8 drubbing of OP in Jackson (while they were dropping USM to "upgrade their schedule") is a better man or woman for it...and I still remember my Dad and Mom getting on a bus to take them to their car....full of OP fanatics...and one OP guy said "well, I guess the Golden Buzzards won't care if they win another game this year"...and my Dad bellowed from the back "You're dayem right!"...Even OP folks laughed and no one said a word the rest o' the way.

...we win 4 games this year....oh sure, a miracle could happen and we get 5 but that's just simply another way of saying "hope" or "If" or "maybe".......it rarely if ever works out for us.

the article was pretty neat, just another read about good ole suthan miss's glory years and the few good teams we lucked up and beat back when beaver still had most of his brain cells...nothing we haven't all read before.
