Immaterial of what this douchebag Dawg ass guy agrees to or approves. We had our significant share of championships, 8 and atleast some level of success in the Dance back in the CAA days. Where we are heading doesn't seem right to me. If Wood Selig can't get his head out of his ass and see this then we have to pull it out for him.

Jeff Capel Jr coached at ODU.
Jeff Capel III is an assistant coach and former player for Duke.
Additionally, Jeff Capel Jr had 2 losing seasons his final 2 years at ODU. And left the program with almost no talent. If I remember correctly, ODU had never had 2 straight losing records since moving to D1 prior to that. So please explain why we would owe him an apology.

How about a return to familiar territory, like a top 50 rpi and an NCAA bid?
Or at the very least, the ability to beat W&M and Marshall on a regular basis?

Aside from my ignorance of the Capel family tree, has ODU ever had a coach miss the NCAA's 5 straight years and kept his job?

Yep. I count 4 players on our current team that JJ recruited as freshmen. Not nearly enough.

So by your own timeline JJ has one more year, right? Because he has just completed his 4th season. I'm not defending JJ. I'm just checking in case your math is as bad as your genealogy.

We're not dominating because we haven't had a game changing coach, simple as that.
Jeff capel came from a small school to be our coach. Same with Blaine, same with Jeff.
We need to take a chance on a top assistant at a big time program like vcu and uncw both did in order to have it pay off and reach that "next level".
Playing it safe if why we are where we are.
Just to play devils advocate Jeff and Capel were both assistants at big-time programs before they became head coaches as well. Capel had immediate success at A&T.

It is all about confidence and Jones is either unwilling or unable to inspire it. With the exception of the OOC season 2 years ago when we went 11-1 with several good wins, Jones has choked in every big game we have played, unless you consider the Murray state game where Freeman hit the half-courter to get to MSG a big game, and we even blew a double digit lead under 4 minutes in that one. I think Jones knows his basketball Xs and Os as well as anyone and might make a good assistant, but leaders are able to build the kids up and get them in the game mentally. Jones is not a leader. We have had plenty of talent. We have seen what Brandan, Caver, and Talley can do when they are mentally with it and feeling confident. Heck, remember at the beginning of the year when it looked like Baker had improved and could be a double digit scorer? WTF happened to his focus?

Our teams in 2005, 2006, 2010, and 2011 were all capable of making big tournament runs and other than 2006, a team that Blaine absolutely ruined, played Final Four teams down to the wire and a few bounces the other way and we could have caught the flash in the pan that VCU and GMU did. We regularly split the series with VCU and several times won 2 out of 3. We were a top 100 team every year, a top 50 team in a 4 out of 6 year stretch, and finished 2010 and 2011 in the top 25 (RPI not poll). I would be happy just to get back to there. VCU today is no better than those teams were, they are just in a more competitive conference. So yes, we have regressed bigly.

Tickets have already dropped from the height of the Blaine Taylor era. Time was I used to have to buy tickets in advance if I wanted to drive down for a home game. Now if you want to buy one at the door, there is always some available.
