Xavier series
The weather looks like this will be a non-traditional weekend series with possibly 2 games on Friday or Sunday, but if not most likely some rain delays on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if Carroll is still our Sunday guy or does Berry make the switch now with CUSA play starting next weekend at probably league favorite to this point La Tech.

EDIT**
Just realized the Sunday game is at 11:00 AM so a DH that day would be difficult unless it was a completion of Saturday's game and then a Sunday game OR playing a pair of 7 inning games and starting at 9:00 am

Also, the rain appears to be gone by lunch on Friday and then doesn't get back over 30% until 3:00 Pm Saturday. Also, Sunday is saying rain in the morning and clear by early afternoon. Originally I was thinking Sunday was a 1:00 pm start and the rain would be gone by gametime.

RE: Xavier series
Doubt Carroll starts. Probably Smith or Keys.

Xavier's Friday guy is a top 50 college prospect per D1 and BA.

RE: Xavier series
A little info on Xavier for this weekend:

went 2-2 at Troy to start the season
went 2-2 vs Penn St (games played in Cary, NC)
went 1-2 at Charlotte
went 1-1 at Georgia

6-7 record; however, they've got a 2-2 record in 1 run games and have both won and lost by a score of 7-5. They very well could be 9-4 but at the same time they could be 3-10

Stats can be deceiving but here's a few:
Hitting .249 as a team with 11 HR. Of the 11 HR, 8 of the are by 3 players with 4, 2 and 2 each respectively.
As a team they are 20-23 on the season in stolen bases while opponents have stolen 7-12 against them. #'s 6, 10 and 19 have combined to go 15-15
Defensively they are pretty sound (especially compared to Northeastern and Evansville) as they have only made 11 errors.
Their leading HR hitter is their leading error guy and he (#6 Bannon) has 4 of each. Also, he is tied for 2nd on team in steals with 4 steals on 4 attempts
They have a team ERA of 4.53
They have 4 pitchers with 3 starts each with ERAs of 2.87, 3.68, 3.71 and 5.93.
#28 Kemp is their best stat pitcher but has no starts. He's made 5 appearances, 13.2 innings, 3-0 record, 1 save, allowed no runs on the season with 10 K and 3 BB.
As a team they have 5 saves but they are divided up among 4 players

Some team comparisons for perspective with ours first:
Games played: 12 (USM) - 13 (Xavier)
batting avg: .300 - .249
HR: 13 - 11
SB: 17 of 23 - 20 of 23
K's while batting: 97 - 142
BB/HBP while batting: 65/18 - 50/12
Errors: 12 - 11
ERA: 4.04 - 4.53
Pitching K/BB: 116/35 - 94/39
Saves: 0 - 5

Granted there are a million different ways/things to look out but just a few that jump out at me.

RE: Xavier series
The weather now appears to be a non issue. 10% or less chance of rain from noon today through 6 pm Saturday. Hattiesburg will probably get a good bit of rain Saturday night and Sunday morning but should be gone around 10 am Sunday which means a wet outfield with an 11 am start. Play Ball!

RE: Xavier series
Some Buffet songs as we are getting our azzzes handed to us...

"Come Monday it'll be allright
Come Monday the streak's out of sight
We spent 3 lonely days in a Musketeer haze
and we just need to learn how to slide"

"Why don't we get drunk and screw?
Why'd I buy weekend tickets for me and you?
They say we're contenders, but I don't think that's true
So why don't we get drunk and screw?"
