Mareik helps send Beard packing
Hit a key "3" down the stretch as part of a 30-10 run by Texas, the last place team in the Big 12, to beat his old coach. Beard finishes 6-13 in the league. Isn't it ironic- same record as our first year coach.

Want to guess that everyone will conveniently ignore that fact?

Looks like some are ignoring the fact that Beard won thirty when he was in the league that Flannigan won 15 in. Nuff said. I've never seen anyone so happy to see Beard lose. just because Flannigan is losing. Never seen anyone hate his former coaches like Mickey does. Better continue being a loser Wes, or Mickey will put a spell on you when you leave. ha ha

RE: Mareik helps send Beard packing
I wonder how much of his multi-million dollar salary Beard is sending to Josh Hagins. If not for Josh, Beard would still be stuck in Little Rock, and there is no rational person that could argue that fact (I don't consider daddy a rational person). I'm sure Texas Tech fans are doing cartwheels over Beard taking over Tubby's NCAA team and not returning them to the dance, being outscored 30-10 to blow a huge lead against last place Texas in the Big 12 tourney opening round, and then not even making the NIT. The smile on Mareik's face when he hit that game turning 3 pointer, against his old coach, was simply priceless. Hopefully, Beard has learned something, this season, going against some truly big time coaches in the Big 12. Unlike Newell and Moser, he may actually become a top level coach one day, but he obviously has a long way to go before breaks the "curse of the Trojan" that has followed every coach who has left here for "greener" pastures.

Jesus!

Good for Malik and all but he did not play that much this year at Texas. He was hurt but Texas sucked.

The Memphis fans are already wanting Tuby out.

Beard will build a winner out there. It's not a great place to attract kids too. If you have ever been to west Texas you will know what I mean, it's just endless dirt. So, Beard has a tough sell but I think he will do it.

Wes on the other hand has a pipeline of local kids and a conference of coaches that are weak to coach against (seems like I heard that from someone 03-wink

Tubby is obviously a very solid coach considering what he did at Minnesota, Tulsa, and Texas Tech (It's hard not to win at Kentucky). But, I was surprised Memphis hired him considering his age. Worked out nicely for Josh Pastner who had a surprisingly good year a Georgia Tech. Bobby Knight and Tubby had good success at Texas Tech, so obviously a good coach can win there. Most great basketball programs aren't in places that folks are dying to visit, with UNLV (25 years ago) and UCLA being notable exceptions.
