Cheers!

Actually, the upcoming season will be the best shot in a long while for the HL to be a multi-bid league. Northern Kentucky only loses Cole Murray; UIC brings back EVERYBODY plus HL Freshman of the Year Dikembe Dixson; Valpo has a couple of D1 transfers plus the improvement of big men Smits and Sorolla. Oakland in all likelihood will be the Horizon League preseason favorite with a chance to Dance. Getting the league to become a multi-bid will depend on two things this upcoming season: Health and improvement of each team and the OOC schedule. Each team obviously needs to improve the schedule and the winning percentage of those games. Oakland has already upgraded for '17-'18. And don't sleep on Wright State.

As a matter of fact, I just might take you up on that bet!!!

I'll take the bet. I say The Horizon won't be a multi bid league next year. It'll be a 1 bid conference. What are the terms? How about: Logos in our profile for the loser? You have ECU as a logo from the 2018 NCAA tournament selection show until the start of 2018 football if wrong, I'll list your Horizon league school as my team in my logo for the same period of time?

You got it! My caveat was going to be waiting until the transfers and graduate free agents are done with, but I'm good.

BTW, I'm not trashing the Horizon. I'm just looking at the new realities. The MWC and MVC conferences were 1 bid conferences. The AAC was a 2 bid league. Unless and until the committee stops squeezing us out, I don't see the Horizon getting multiple bids to the dance.

I agree. And I didn't think you were trashing the Horizon.

Wright State has been hemorrhaging 20% of it's 2013 endowment each of the past three years between enrollment decline and extreme corruption by the Board of Trustees, and has made so many cuts that about the only thing left to cut is athletics. I really think that they're the next Chicago State waiting to happen.

Wright St is taking money out of its endowment to fund athletics?

Not necessarily, but they somehow managed to hide that the university as a whole had $40+ million dollar deficits the last three years until sometime last fall. Only a tiny part of that is athletics, but it seems like they have been cutting so many different things that it's hard to see what else they will cut.
