We will rue the day !

You miss Wonder Boy? Did you watch him lose in first round of acc tournament last night to a team that had 4 conference wins?

More stupid talk. Joe Jackson got us to the NCAA tournament, not Wonder Boy with a quick trigger finger on his constant yanking out certain players, everyone but Will Barton, when they missed a shot.
Two of those four tournament appearances ended real quick, one to the mighty Billikens. The other two we get clobbered in our second game.

Tell us again how you didn't like Joshie. Laughable.

Are there any genuine Tiger fans left or are these imposters masquerading as Tiger fans infiltrating this board? Now, that's freaking comical.

The number of fans who will not post here anymore says a lot. Good posters, bad posters but fans no longer post here. Seems that we a lot of people who would be a better coach, stalkers (see the smack board), miserables and people whose parents should have whacked them up side the head a taught them some manners when they were young.

We need all Tiger fans to come back and post. We can agree to disagree but it's the notable arrogance of a few who become downright malicious if a fan advocates for or demonstrates support for Tubby. The derogatory name calling and soon as you fire back; they unequivocally cannot handle it. Go Tigers!

Face reality. There are only a few left who actually post. About 10 are making 80% of the posts. Tomorrow, post season starts for real, so I hope not to be arguing with you 10 knuckleheads for awhile.

Absolutely correct!.

And if I were Tubby I'd send Keelon Lawson packing. Any father, but certainly if any member of the staff that says or does anything that distracts from the program or changes a player's focus from what is currently in front of him - THIS SEASON, that person clearly is not focused on or loyal to the program & should be fired. Forget that Keelon is being paid to focus on Tiger basketball, it likely damages Dedric's standing with scouts & certainly damages the Tiger team for him to be focused on what's next, essentially writing off this season at the most crucial time of the season. This leveraged relationship just is not worth the crap - and it hurts recruiting & the program that is not Lawson-centric. And BTW, I'm confident this is what Tubby is expressing in this article.

I'm confused. Is this not the most money Tubby Smith has EVER made to coach? And he's b**ching about expectations and distractions?

Quit then, and we'll find somebody else.

Satisfied with fifth place. No enthusiasm or drive to do better?
He is coaching at the wrong school, or Memphis fans have too many expectations.
No wonder we lost so many games,we had to make sure we got that fifth place spot.
Not looking good for the future; we fans do not accept mediocrity.
Show him the door.

The only drive this guy has, is the drive, to hit his drive down the middle. We went from a COACH that couldn't sleep and got ( ILL-sick ) after a loss --to a coach that has ZERO drive and chalks up a loss as just being basketball. We went from the hardest working COACH in the country to this guy. As DANA would say "simply amazing".

Your schtick is getting really old.

This is quite bad. I think it is pretty obvious that we are lacking for talent right now and in sore need of depth.

So, we play in a solid conference, GREAT facilities, good (used to be great) fan support and we offer PLENTY of playing time. Yet we are competing with Manhattan for recruits?

Sounds like Tic Price.

If Tubby doesn't turn it around fast, Tiger BB will become DePaul, Houston, St. John's, etc..

Does that not tell you Tubby has thrown in the towel for the conference tournament? It is very unusual for coaches to recruit the week of tourney.

Are you actually saying Tubby is recruiting too much? Wow. That's a new tactic for the haters.

Ridiculous. Nobody is happy with 5th place. You want to win every single game you play. Realistically, I think we are right where most thought we would be or maybe a little better actually. This team has basically 4 players and some fill in guys. That's it. If you don't beleive that you're kidding yourself.

It is cool if you are picked to finish 5th with someone elses players and that is where you end up...Ok par for the course.

If you picked to finish 5th next year because you didn't upgrade those players and finish 5th that is more your fault.

3rd year if you picked to finish 5th and you finish 5th because you STILL haven't upgraded your roster then there are no excuses

What if you're in year 3, you're coming off 3 good recruiting classes, you're picked #11 preseason in conference, and you finish #11 in conference?

It's just strange that many of the same people who complain about Tubby on here, defend Pearl.

RE: CA - Tigers' Tubby Smith bemoans expectations, distractions
There's nothing wrong with Tubby's statements. First, they were from questions asked by the media. He didn't steer the interview there, they did. He could have ducked them like Pastner did, but he's just not that way. So he was honest. Someone pointed out that we once worshiped a coach who called his players selfish on national tv.

At least Tubby didn't pull a Fizdale and after talking about the heat he's getting, tell us to do something that would not be pleasant.

Coaches do different things when the media is hounding them while things are not going well. I think Tubby's answers were fine.

I don't disagree all the way about the Tubby/Pearl stuff, but it is a slight goalpost movement of the actual discussion.

Back to what Tubby said:

I think mistake was Tubby saying anything at all, regardless of whether it is true or he believes it to be true or whatever.

Not a good look after the 40 point SMU beat down to publicly complain about expectations and distractions.

IMO

No but I've been told by several CBB writer that it's pretty unusual for coaches to be recruiting the week of their conference tournament when, in theory, they should be getting team ready for (in our case especially) the most important games of the year.

Post #73 is stupid and here is why. On one hand pinhead moans, groans, *itches, and bashes Tubby for not being a good recruiter and or a lazy recruiter. So, Tubby goes out to recruit twice this week and the 99% man says he should be preparing his team. It's so hypocritical. Mainly, it shows how much he hates the coach.

You're an idiot if you think you can't do both- recruit and prepare your team. For a guy who proclaims to be 99% smarter than everyone here, it shows he has no clue.

RE: CA - Tigers' Tubby Smith bemoans expectations, distractions
At the moment, we have no one that comes close to replacing Dedric's production. He is our best player. Imagine our season results this year without him and project it to next year and we will be fortunate to tally a winning record. We have learned this season that a HOF caliber coach on the sideline does not prevent epic blow outs or result in an NCAA bid. We cannot afford to lose high talent.
