I spent most of my life, with very few exceptions (Tic), anxiously awaiting March Madness. Even when we weren't good, we weren't bad and I always thought we had a chance. Losing to St Louis, Michigan State and Virginia and not having but 3 or 4 really good wins over anybody the last 8 years has made this time of year depressing.

I hope that Tubby only gets year 3 ( 1 down, 2 to go) to prove he can recruit somebody.

I really think that we are as bad as we have been, or worse, in over 40 years.

If you were not happy making 4 straight NCAAs (no matter who the coach was) and feel good about waiting until '19 at best to make it again, I have so sympathy for you. I also live for NCAA tournament and I'm unhappy right now; I was very happy going to 4 straight tourneys.

It was kinda embarrassing getting destroyed on national tv for most of those years though.

Not as embarrassing as the worst loss in 70 years and not as bad as the feeling most Tiger fans will have on Selection Sunday when they KNOW our name won't be mentioned except maybe as a bad loss for SC.

I expect we will return to the NCAA Tourney next season assuming return of eligible players, a pick up of a decent grad transfer, adequate performance from freshmen recruits, and development of Tubby's first class.

Meanwhile, I will root for Cincy, SMU, and the Zags.

I bet the highest ranked players our HOF coach has ever had on any team---Pitino and Josh recruited for him.....OK I could be wrong. I also bet other coaches around the country spend more time in MEMPHIS gyms than our HOF coach....he is busy playing golf and watching the golf channel than actually earning his pay.

What's your beef with golf? Your hatred of it seems to be driving you.

Oh, ok. I was really just yanking your chain a little. I'm like you, love it but don't get to play as much as I wish.

I guess my take on Tubby and the recruiting angle is he hasn't had to recruit at a "non-power conference school" since Tulsa, and maybe he doesn't have the juice for it any more. I'm hoping his crew can find their groove and get some talent that wants to be here and play for him and be Tigers.

The score scrolled across the bottom of the screen on all the ESPN networks for 12 hours or so-don't think anyone noticed?

Didn't Calipari and Pastner both get 30 pointed at UT or similar?

Probably as many noticed that as well.

I can't remember any other scores from any other teams this year.

FWIW

I love how our fans make excuses. I guess ignoring facts and making excuses is part of what makes some people fans.

What excuse?

It's all the same - getting thunderfukked is getting thunderfukked.

Doesn't matter if it was yesterday or five years ago or 30 years ago.

I just don't believe most of America was watching the scroll with their jaw on the floor and texting their friends and whatever else.

Most people don't give a shtt unless it's their team or their mortal enemy anyway.

Not even done with year 1 and throwing everyone under the bus:

@mgiannotto Tubby went on interesting tangent today about expectations at Memphis. Called it unlike anywhere he's been. And he coached at Kentucky.

@mgiannotto Tubby Smith said today he feels "distractions" have played into Tigers' poor play down stretch. Specifically mentioned Dedric's decision.
