Northern Kentucky
Just punched their ticket to the dance in their first year of being eligible. Just thought it was cool. I'm glad too because there's absolutely no damn reason a team with 23 losses should be in the tournament.

You forgot to mention their nickname is "The Norse", which has to be one of the most badass mascots you can have. WKU, EKU and NKU should have a "directional kentucky" cup.

RE: Northern Kentucky
I was watching the game and it really occurred to me how close Horizon League was from being represented in the postseason by a 11-23 Milwaukee team that was a #10 seed. Conferences really need to cut the number of teams in the tournaments in half to prevent this kind of stuff from happening

Fantastic year for the Norse, and I am sure that they will make the most of this opportunity.

John Brannen has taken some Kentucky kids and a few others and turned them into an NCAA Tournament team

Everything went their way in Detroit. #1, #2, and #3 seeds all lost before NKU took the court. Then they defeated #5 Wright State, #9 YSU and won last night by beating the worst team in conference.

Couldn't have asked for a better situation if you were Ken Bothof and John Brannen

What is the connection between the Norse and Kentucky? Is there a decent Scandinavian population in the state?

Brannen would be a good get for North Texas IMO.

Cincinnati area is very heavily populated with Germans and Scandinavian population...From NKU's campus you can see Cincy skyline, their campus is concrete U, not much to it but a lot of newer concrete buildings....

MIght be a good get for WKU, they have 3 Kentucky kids I wish WKU had on our roster instead of just our 1 KY guy...Our most successful teams in our history had 2 or 3 KY guys who contributed....

The story of the beginnings of NKU relate to my law school (which was independent of a college and located in Cincinnati and the ABA pushed for all law schools to be attached to colleges) seeking a university for a home. Xavier and Miami were disinterested, so the Governor of Kentucky transformed UK extension campus into a university and began building the campus in Highland Heights with the law school building.

With the bulk of the campus being built in the 1970's, the architecture was brutalism. This resulted in the concrete monstrosity the campus is today.

I like that logo. My last name is Sanders and every fantasy team I've ever had has been named the Sanders Colonels.
