Unlike the women's tournament only one top seed fell. It just happened to be Kent that knocked them out. We live to play tomorrow. Ohio is next.

Well, for better or for worse, I think Senderoff's job is now secure.

That game was tough to watch. I'm really glad we won because it would be tough to stomach ending your season on a game like that. I truly feel for Buffalo and their fans for that reason. 75 free throws, 56 fouls, and both teams finishing with patch work lineups on the court. Those refs should probably consider another line of work. Now on to Ohio.

In all fairness, WKYC and Jim Donavan have been supporters of the local MAC teams with coverage on their 11 PM nightly news and the Sunday night sports showcase with several interviews with Senderoff and Dambrot.

Sendy was never even remotely on the hot seat. While maybe not up to some fan expectations, he runs a clean program that has a winning record. KSU cannot afford to pay a coach who isn't coaching (the likely reason Paul Haynes is still employed).

dannyb73, I'm sure you're right. Even if they hadn't started winning (what is it, 7 of the last 8?), I would have been stunned to see Kent State remove a coach with a winning record. Are you sure, though, they would have had to pay him? I was lead to believe that he is on the last year of a contract. Anyway, it's all moot now.

I don't actually follow his contract situation. If he was on the last year of his contract, then no, he wouldn't have been due any money had they chosen not to retain him. If he is under contract past this year, we would have obviously owed him. My only real point is KSU can't really afford to fire basketball or football coaches and pay them as well as a new coach.

agreed, Sendy was not on hot seat and is not going anywhere, if you let him go, who you going to go after and not have to pay a lot more $$, which Kent is not going to do, ie Football.

RE: Kent State vs. Buffalo (MAC Quarterfinal)
Just maybe.... we might have a chance to get out of Cleveland with some fanfare... Just maybe... It's great that we are winning even though we have escaped a few situations that favored our team. But I have two concerns going into tonights game. The Kent players have got to keep their emotions to themselves when a call is not in their favor. We have been called for technical fouls twice in the last two games that could have easily caused us to be defeated by our own players. The referees are not fooling around with displays of poor behavior.

Secondly, I have to wonder what in the world Senderoff and his coaching staff were thinking last night by leaving Del La Rosa in the game with a minute to go and Buffalo frantic to foul a Kent player to get the ball back. Rosa was totally shooting bricks, one right after another at the foul line. A third grader could have predicted that Buffalo was going to foul him immediately in particular to get the ball back. 01-lauramac201-lauramac2:Why Senderoff kept him in the game after missing foul shot after foul shot was totally crazy and this coaching move played right into the hands of Buffalo big time. What a terrible decision that almost cost us the game.04-rock

Just want to wish you guys best of luck from a Buffalo fan. I really wish the refs would have let us both play a little last night because it would have made for a really fun game. Hope you guys can continue to make some noise these next few days!

100% correct on the puzzlement with leaving De LaRosa in the game those last few minutes. Made absolutely no sense. I think Rob has done a good job overall with this group (which has a few knuckleheads in it!) but that decision is a head scratcher for sure!

RE: Kent State vs. Buffalo (MAC Quarterfinal)
I really think and hope that Sendy is our coach for a long, long time. As frustrated as I get at times, particularly several months ago, it is still pretty obvious that he is a very competent coach. Remember, this is a remade team. We have lots of youth, and we are deep. We can question the moves of any coach of any game at any time. We are fans. Sure take Adonas out, but does the next guy go down the floor, and pick up the charge that sends a very good opponent to the bench? Does the next guy occupy space that allows another teammate to come away with a rebound? I am with Rob's decision. Also, he knew that he had to transform his last year's talent in order to advance this year. So, he helps several players to leave the program to make room for those who are helping this year. Further, I will go out on the limb and say that this is his best year of coaching. Did I say stop talking about hotseat? Did I say he is good for us?

Don't forget, Jaylin Walker and Deon Edwin had both fouled with 2:38 left. You had Hall, De La Rosa, Avery, Peterson, and Zabo or Ridenour on the floor. Outside of De La Rosa (55% FT), you had Edwards (0-2 for the year) or the freshmen - Pippen (59% FT), Alonzo Walker (60% FT), or Hurley (0-1 on the year)
