RE: New Column: Fickell Establishing Culture As Spring Ball Begins
Great stuff Dan. This program needed a culture change in the worst of ways. Loved reading this.

In other words, they have very different personalities and that’s been evident since Fickell was named Cincinnati’s new head coach in December.

“High intensity – that’s first and foremost,” said senior cornerback Grant Coleman when asked about the new coaching staff. “It’s not a laid-back program at all. From the moment we step in it’s like ‘Take off your hood! Push-ups! Weigh-in!’ It’s a whole new mode.

“It starts from the top down. He set the standard as soon as he came in. I remember the first thing that he said was, ‘Everybody sit up!’ It was like a drill sergeant.”

“There’s so much energy,” said senior running back Mike Boone. “As soon as you wake up and go to the weight room he’s like, ‘Come on, weigh in!’ There’s so much more energy and for us as players we need that. That gets us going. That shows us that Coach wants us to be better and we’ll give him our all.”

IMHO our turnover and penalty woes from the past few years can be attributed to the lack of discipline in this program the past few years. I expect to see a huge rebound in both departments this fall.

Also great to read the players have bought in.

The energy is infectious. Ready to run through a wall. Got me stoked about FB this season while immersed in March Madness. Nice.

We knew we were lacking is a pretty observant opinion under TT
