Memphis-Tennessee rivalry renewed?
Rick Barnes on renewing Memphis Rivalry, per Wes Rucker's Twitter account:

Great, we don't catch them wen they are down, instead, they just had a positive year in which seven of their nine rotation players are freshman and sophomores.

I think it helps UT recruiting, sets us up to lose a top recruit to UT, but yes some people don't get laid enough.

Yes Arkansas needs help recruiting Memphis just as we have a couple of top classes coming through the Memphis school system. I hope Memphis AD is on Arkansas and IT's Christmas card list.

Nah, it just seems when we have these lulls, we either catch team on their way up or when we are down.
We had been 17-1 vs. OM then renewed it after 15 years and have gone 5-7 since 98, including two 3-game losing streaks.
We picked up UTK in time for Tony Harris to go 4-0 vs. Memphis, then get the Pearl years.
In football, our series with UTk ends right before they reel off three 5-7 seasons in a row.
Vs. Mississippi State, we have no games from 04-09 and State goes 13-38 in that time. The year they come back on the schedule is Mullen's 2nd season and they go 9-4 and skull drag Memphis 49-7.

I'm all for playing interesting games at this point.
The conference is a dud. The NonCon is laughable and uninteresting.
At least I'd have interest in playing UT.
Yeah, it will probably help their recruiting some, but that's the trade off.

Obviously UT doesn't want us to play them in football.... And we're probably not ready to play them yet... We need one more solid yr of recruiting before we entertain playing additional P5 schools.

I wonder if OM will let us back on their FB schedule maybe in three years?
Edit: I see they are scheduled to play @Memphis in 2019.
Could be interesting.

Oh, the Tigers are on par with UT football right now. Not saying the programs are even, just the present team. That would be an interesting game.
As far as basketball is concerned, yes I guess UT game would be okay. I have no interest in Arkansas at all. We can find several games just as interesting as the hogs.

Both Gary Parrish and the new beat writer think that this is a silly argument originating with Cal and that the sheeple just keep regurgitating.
If playing in the home town is such a sell wouldn't playing here 75 times vs. 2 times over a 4 year period be a reason to stay home?

Will be easy to test now. We have a coach who isn't known as a great recruiter, we are inviting the state school that OWNS everything east of the Tennessee River in.
Parrish and the new beat writer didn't have to recruit, Cal did. I think Cal is a mediocre coach, but he is in the top 3 recruiters who have ever lived.

Cal may be the best recruiter of all time, but that doesn't mean he is correct when he says we will lose a bunch of local kids to UT/olemiss if we play UT/olemiss.
