Heads up for family and friends who can't make it to the game...ESPN will broadcast at 7PM- NOT ESPN2.

RE: Championship Game TV Coverage
ESPN called the conference and told them that if ETSU and UNCG both won, the game would be moved to ESPN, due to the great conference RPI. 7pm on the flagship!

On that note...ETSU's current RPI is 60. UNCG is 98. This is the highest ETSU RPI I can remember. In 2004, we finished #66. If ETSU wins, you have to figure the Bucs will be in the mid 50's by selection Sunday.

would put them in line for a 12 seed and a very winnable first round game.

Going waaaay back......In 1991 we were a 10 seed vs. Iowa at 7. Looks like the final RPI had us at 52, which I assume is after the tournament.

And that was after making the dance for 3 consecutive years. Bucs haven't been to the tourney in quite a while and the selection committee has a short memory. Let's face it, the non p5 conference teams seeding will be based on how the 22nd team in the big 10 is seeded (a bit of sarcasm there). But reality is ---it is all about the p5s.

Wow I didn't know the RPI went back that far. I checked 1992. And we were 55 and only got a 14!
However, what many people may not know is ETSU lost to some really bad teams in 1992. Austin Peay, Oregon, Oral Roberts, etc. So that might be the reason why our seed was so low that year, despite the high RPI.

Wasn't implying if we can beat UNCG we would a 10 seed again, just throwing this out for information. A 10 seed is the best we have ever gotten. Of course, those were different times and power conferences take precedence as you mentioned.

I believe that was also Davidson's seed when they had Steph Curry.

We were also ranked 17th in country (not mid major). Talford got hurt in the semi final game, played in the final, hurt his knee again (supposedly a different injury) and was out. That was the reason we got dropped in the seeding.
Kenyon Martin getting hurt once cost Cincinnati a 1 seed. Not sure if
injuries still play a part in seeding but they did back then.

The conference really needs to work on getting a TV deal. I hate seeing Belmont and the OVC on ESPN networks on a regular basis but no Southern Conference games until our conference finals.

Thanks. I missed the first part, but was able to catch the last 10 minutes or so online. Nice interview.

This is one of the main reason Elon and the Saviors left. While I get the theory, I think most people's viewing habits as far as sports go have changed. I think the investment the conference made to get everyone on the ESPN3 platform is the best move they could have made from a cost effective standpoint

ESPN3 was a sharp move. The streams rarely let me down. There have been no major malfunctions this year, excusing a few times where feed would drop out briefly.

With no interest in P5 basketball, ESPN3 is my go to. I watch a number of good mid-major teams there each week.

The WatchESPN app is available across so many platforms as well. It's easy enough to watch it through my Xbox on one of our TVs, or hook up my laptop to the other TV with the WatchESPN app. I think it's available on Roku and other streaming devices too, so you aren't relegated to a small screen for it anymore.

The most annoying thing about some of the ESPN3 streams is having to listen to "homer" comments by the local guys broadcasting the games. I haven't figured out how to slow down (or is it speed up) the stream to line up with Jay on the radio.
Overall though it's been pretty good this year reliability-wise.
And it's nice to be able to watch a game for another day or two on replay for a close up perspective. I watched the Championship game last night (and noted two bad calls: 1) Ike's block that White got the technical for looked like a charge, and 2) Desonta didn't swing any elbows that he got called for toward the end).
