40 Freaking Years.
Wonder why the NBA is not making a bigger deal of the fact that his year is the 40th anniversary of the NBA/ABA merger.
A easy question.
Since the 1970-71 season there were two ABA cities which were NOT a part of the merger who now have NBA teams. Who are they. CORRECTION: There are four. IF you consider one teams switched cities and were later part of the merger. If you look at cities it is five but since one of the cities the franchise did take part of the merger in another city we will stick with four.

One correct. New Orleans was an NBA team at the time of the merger. Maybe i should say 1.5 correct.

RE: 40 Freaking Years.
Disregard the second question. The city in question has only had THREE different teams in the major leagues of professional basketball instead of four.
Bucs, Jazz, Hornets/Pelicans

A couple easy questions.
Since the 1970-71 season there were two ABA cities which were NOT a part of the merger who now have NBA teams. Who are they.
Which Current NBA city has had FOUR different pro (ABA/NBA) teams. Three teams have left this city and they still got another team. DISREGARD THE SECOND QUESTION

RE: 40 Freaking Years.
I have this old scorecard from a preseason game at the Coliseum between the Hawks and Spurs (with Larry Kenon) right before the Spurs first season in the NBA. Like Mairving said, I wished they still had the red, white and blue ball. Before the 2003 NBA Finals, the first between two old ABA teams (Nets-Spurs), both teams actually took the court for warmups using the old ABA red, white and blue ball.
On this scorecard from this game, lot's of recognizable names, including a current NBA head coaches plus another coach that's Hall of Fame bound. In addition with lot's of legendary ABAers. Good times, great memories. Larry Kenon, which makes this Tiger related, is on the scorecard picture in his beloved #35.

RE: 40 Freaking Years.
Come to think of it there are actually 4 former ABA cities from 1970-71 through the merger, which were not a part of the merger which now have NBA teams. I forgot some of them.
We have the Cougars, Pros/TAMS/Sounds, Floridians and the Stars..
I had forgotten that Carolina's team owner had moved the Cougars to St Louis since it was the largest city without a professional a professional basketball team. Hoping to be part of the merger.
Memphis Sounds were sold and moved to Baltimore.
The Utah Stars ceased operation before the merger. But the Jazz moved from New Orleans to Utah in 1979.
So the Four Cities are Memphis, Salt Lake City , Miami and Charlotte. All FOUR were members of the ABA in the 1970-71 season onward, were not part of the merger. But Now have NBA teams.
Dallas had the Chaps but they moved to San Antonia and became the Spurs and were part of the merger.
Charlotte and New Orleans are both currently on their third different franchise.
But the best part of the entire deal LOUISVILLE has been left out in the cold and hasn't been invited back to the party. Of the 11 ABA teams in 1970-71 ONLY Louisville Virginia and Pittsburgh currently do not have a NBA team.

RE: 40 Freaking Years.
What about Dallas?
Do we count them because the City was in the ABA in 70-71.
Or do we not count them because the Franchise became SA Spurs and was part of the merger???
So which do you think it is 4 or 5?

I wasn't alive then but that's the same George Karl that became the coach. Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing. Sports history is cool!

RE: 40 Freaking Years.
When I was a kid, my dad took me to see the Kentucky Colonels take on the NY Nets. Larry Kenon and Dr. J were with the Nets, and the Colonels had Artis Gilmore, Dan Issell, and Louie Dampier. I need to see if he has a program from that game.
