RE: ACC Coach of the Year
Just shows how fantastic of a program Memphis is. Our past coach leaves on his own accord to go to Tech, whereupon he becomes ACC COY and Memphis immediately replaces him with the reigning B12 COY.

Paragon of stability.

Wow. Well, congrats to Josh. Not sure he did enough in my mind to pocket that award, but I'm happy for him. I will say, though, he was playing with house money this season. He was front and center telling everyone how bad they might be. So, he couldn't really fail. At some point, he'll still have to produce a consistent winner.

Congrats...

But lets be realistic...This is based on everyone thinking that G. Tech was going to suck...

Okogie came in and was a much better player than his ranking and Lammers played well...

Gtech has the same record of the coach who was fired in conference and a worse record overall

He wasn't even .500 and got it. Williams or the FSU coach should have got it.

Adding to your post...I saw Okogie being interviewed and they asked him did josh convince you to stay and honor your commitment, he said no, he simply wanted to play at GT. Secondly, Ben Lammers is a prime time big man. The combo of Lammers and Okogie is a nice deal to walk into. The previous coach that got fired was the one responsible for both Lammers and Okogie. Lastly, he got that award for three victories. Yes they were great wins. But his record sucked like you mentioned. His record was like the records he was getting here after cusa.

RE: ACC Coach of the Year
Atlanta & GT are a good environment for JP, relatively low expectations. Atlanta is ambivalent about GT & GT is pretty ambivalent about BB......good match for JP. He can fly under the radar somewhat, say & do outrageous things without getting a lot of notoriety. And maybe he's matured some too - and he hustles as a recruiter. Could also be a reflection of the environment surrounding Memphis Tiger BB too - unrealistic expectations, feelings of entitlement by Memphis area elite BB recruits, toxic admin environment, etc, just saying maybe.........and not unpredictable given the high level success Memphis was enjoying when Calipari left for UK.

Josh should get a ton of credit for Lammers

It's an interesting question about whether players are developed by coaches or if some just work harder to develop themselves. Still, if the coach gets criticized for not developing players when they don't produce as expected, it's only fair to credit them when players exceed expectations.

I disagree 100%. No way josh had anything to do with the player Ben Lammers is. If that was the case he should have done that with Tarik and Austin or any other player not named DJ. You can have that opinion if you want to, I respectfully disagree.

I look at it simply...If he gets the blame he gets the credit.

Regardless if it is true.
