The pressure on a clear head and shoulders favorite can lead to a early exit....that's my prediction for Middle.

I honestly don't think Western has much of a chance to win it all. But I do think the pressure will keep Middle from repeating. If they do who would have ever though Middle would be repeat CUSA champions in basketball and Western in football?

Middle is about our only shot at anything other than a 15/16 seed

MTSU has what it takes to win though, balanced team. UTEP will be a big test.

MTSU clearly the class of the league, but if they somehow get beat, I could realistically see any of the top 7 winning it.

UAB would have to show something it hasn't proven it has this year: grit.

Conference Tournaments are very unusual in that they require a team to play on 3 consecutive days if they are successful. Even the NCAA Tournament doesn't require that.

This odd requirement to play on consecutive days typically favors a bigger team with a strong inside game. For this reason, I expect MTSU and LA Tech to reach the final. However, if the tournament seeds hold, LA Tech will have to play UAB, ODU and MTSU on consecutive days. That's a real grind.

I think MT wins it. I hope for a rematch from last years finals and some payback long coming. We'll see.

I like Tech's chances if they can get past UAB

The 2013-2014 season there was a 4 way tie for the regular season championship between MT, Tulsa, Southern Miss, and La Tech. La Tech ended up as the number 1 seed after all the tiebreakers were figured in. They ended up losing to Tulsa in the finals who represented us in the NCAA tournament that year.

2014-2015 season La Tech was the number 1 seed again but ended up getting beat by UAB in the semifinals. UAB went on to beat MT in the finals.

Last year UAB was the number 1 seed and lost early. MT went on to win the championship.


So to answer your question, No. a number 1 seed has never won the championship since realignment. La Tech has choked two a way and UAB one. It will remain to be seen if MT can do it.

DOesnt really matter picks wise but you have the games and times wrong on a lot of your match ups..WKU is 1st game Wednesday then MTSU same time if we are able to win...

I picked the field even though MT is the best team IMO , Ive just seen MT barley survive several games lately, and that usually catches up to most teams. If MT can play lose and with emotion.....nobody will catch them.

Rice has what it takes to beat anybody in the league. Do we have the consistency to play at that level four days in a row? We'll see.
We also play a shorter bench than average and our players have less experience than average, that could also hurt us.
But I'm still making the homer call and picking my Owls...

This is pretty much how I see it.

I also think that MTSU should be a near automatic at-large as long as they beat UTSA/WKY.

UAB will be lucky to win 2 games in the tournament. I'd be happy to win 4 obviously, but I don't see it happening at all. Our team as a whole doesn't seem to care very much this year. MTSU or LT wins the tournament

Hope the Monarchs do, but I'm expecting MT to actually claim the title. MT vs. UTEP, assuming it happens, might be the game of the tourney.

Realistically, it's MT then a big gap, then everybody else. So if we lose, it's gonna be anyone's championship to win. But IF we are firing on all cylinders all week and we get going, we'll probably win by big margins up to the championship and then under a 10 point game.

Ifs everywhere. If we play our best ball, Marshall can win it all. Its all about who is the hottest this year. Middle is going down to UTEP though. I like Marshall to make the semis vs La Tech.

Middle Tennessee gets my vote to take the conference tournament title. They have managed to get the job done throughout the conference season and with all the chips on the table during the tournament I would be surprised if they don't come out focused and playing at a very high level throughout.

Hope they get a nice seed in the NCAA Tournament and can pull off a win or two for us.

I picked the field. If I had to choose a team, I'd choose UTEP. They've had a lot of momentum in the 2nd half of the conference schedule. Also, because they were the only team that was able to beat MTSU.
