How many years untll Memphis basketball is relevant again?
I'd say 3 at a minimum.

This should NEVER happen to Memphis basketball. NEVER. Tubby should take a 50% pay cut for next year because that's about what his coaching / recruiting is worth right about now.

That's been thrown around, would love to see him officially involved.
Also, not willing to punt a 19-12 season that took a 1-5 including two bad losses to finish there season....after the last two years being several games short of that.

This finish has been painful, but, as long as TUbby does not lose them...can remedy quick next week.

Even short if a tourney win, a 21-13 finish or the like with an NIT bid would be a nice improvement from last year, and bring back Dedric and experien...and really, one year away.

Say they go 1-1 in the AAC tournament (USF is a given) but Dedric doesn't come back.

Agree...no Dedric, overwhelmingly no tourney next year.

And I get that he may very well not be back.

This is an if.

Team improved several games from last year, but finished badly...trying to keep whole year in perspective.

To answer the OP, I would say not until there is a huge paradigm shift. I'm not sure anymore that's it's coaching. It may be part of it fit wise. The culture is a losing one right now.

Memphis basketball may be in UNLV territory. If you haven't noticed, the talent in Memphis is not like it used to be, even though the legend still lives. Heck half the schools in Memphis are boarded up, a gimmicky charter school, or have minimum attendance. The national footprint of Calipari and early Pastner is dead. Sorry that is just the reality. Never say never, but I believe our best days are behind us.

And UNLY just out recruited Tubby for a big for next year.

Good job Tubby!

Depends if the Lawsons are back.

Right now - I'd say it's going to be a while.

I'd say as long as Tubster is here....It's not turning around. This isn't Kentucky and definitely not the 90s. Current players couldn't give a crap about what he did 20 years ago

RE: How many years untll Memphis basketball is relevant again?
2 paths...

Lawsons Stay:

Year 2 - probably NCAA bound and relevant again

Lawsons Leave:

Year 2 - probably miserably bad
Year 3 - I'd imagine fairly similar to this year
Year 4 - should be NITish
Year 5 - you'd hope NCAA bound and relevant again

So, think about that when we talk about saying "good riddance" to the Lawsons...

Why would any high level recruit answer a call from Tubby?

Hell, is Tubby even going to call a high level recruit?

Shows you have no clue about recruiting. Odingo is the higher priory. Be pissed if he misses on him.
