Back from Kalamazoo!
I noticed the dinner and game deal on Twitter so I decided take my two boys to Kalamazoo to take in the CMU game tonight. This was only our second trip to University in probably 12 years! My son was also interested in watching CMU's Keene. We ended up sitting a couple rows in front of a couple of my son's varsity teammates. While that may not seem odd in the greater Kalamazoo area, you have to consider that these boys play on the same varsity team in Washtenaw county! Apparently his teammates were also interested in seeing Keene play. Crazy!

We arrived a few minutes late due to I-94 traffic and then had to wait to pickup our "will call" package. The crowd was pretty darn good for a WMU spring break game -- I think they reported 4,000 at University Arena and another 3,000 at Lawson. It was a great gameday experience -- much better than I've remembered from the games I've attended in the past.

The game was great as expected. I must admit, I had written off our program half way through the year. CMU's Keene and Rayson were as good as advertised in the first half. Hawk seemed to make the proper adjustments to slow these guys down in the second half -- although CMU's rebounding on both sides was atrocious. Haymond and Wilder were exceptional tonight -- I was also really impressed with our defense as a whole.

In the end, I'm really happy we made the trip -- well worth the package deal even driving over an hour away. Hopefully we can make a run in the MAC tourney next week...

Attendance was 4,194. Hockey had close to 3,300 at their game. Almost 7,500 pople on campus watching a MAC West champion bball team and nationally ranked hockey team, with both wining. A lot of students must have delayed heading home for spring break. They had the best turn out of the year. Good to see the support from them.

A good day to be a Bronco!

If Basketball played Saturday afternoon as they should have - possible we would have had three full-houses this weekend instead of a couple almosts Friday night.

04-chairshot Why are we not suprised that it would be you who is not satisfied with the crowd. How in the heck did you ever get through life with your Debbie downer attitude. I don't recall seeing you at a game recently.

But the Major is right.

Playing THIS game on a Friday night was a slap-in-the-face to both WMU and CMU players and fans.

While the attendance was good, they deserved great and would have had it if the game was played Saturday afternoon.

Shame on the MAC.

That said...LOVED the win!

I'm guessing that the MAC coaches prefer the Friday night games.

They've been doing it this way for awhile.

OTW....it's a very quick turnaround with the Monday games looming.
