Not a chance in hell.

Over half the teams could make more as independents, so if that's real, there won't be an American soon.

This.

The MAC is making 3x the number Dodd is projecting. If Indy is not an option others will go to the MAC or MWC.

Dodd can't be this stupid & has to be trolling. The AAC is certainly a more valuable commodity than the NBE simply because football is a more valuable commodity than bball and they don't even have football. Yes, it is well chronicled that the key factor that caused the devaluation during the last contract negotiations was complete and utter instability. That has now passed.

The football product is by far the best you can get outside the P5 (in performance & fan base/notoriety & basketball is better than any conference outside the P5 and NBE. With a little tweaking AAC basketball can consistently rival the SEC & NBE in basketball quality (maybe by just bringing in WSU alone). If we shop our product around my objective estimate of current market value is about $6-7.5 million per school but with additions that number would grow. There's a lot of calculated subterfuge and propaganda out there but only time will tell. Despite all the 'fallout' at ESPN people will continue to watch TV & other media providers will still want attractive content.

There's actually more competition among media content providers than there was just a few years ago. That alone puts us in a better bargaining position and in conjunction with increased stability, proven quality in performance, tv ratings, and quality basketball expansion absolutely ensures a pay raise if Aresco is even half the negotiator he's supposed to be. From a logical perspective, our content is probably as close to the BIG 12 as we are to C-USA (i.e., the disparity between the AAC's product and C-USA's is equal to the disparity between the BIG 12's vs the AAC's). Now if we get a few quality football and bball additions then we're getting closer to $ 9-10 million per school IMO.

Don't forget Navy football's deal w/ CBS is done in a yr or 2 & UCONN women's bball alone is box office by any standard.

Time to make moves and get paid!

Other sources are still saying Dayton and VCU could boast the payouts for the AAC basketball contract. Dennis Dodd have been a complete failure since he did not want any AAC teams going to the Big 12. He keeps bad mouthing AAC, MWC and Northern Illinois for a while now.

Dodd should be working for a small-town newspaper. He is not fit to be a national sportswriter.

Cbs is going to lose the Navy contract. $2 million for navy without the army-navy game. So somehow the fool thinks the entire league is worth $2 million.

Dodd knows the media numbers!! He has an agenda!! It's very obvious. Now, I don't know who he truly serves, but he's been doing this anti-AAC crap on purpose.

Cheers!

I agree with you on Dayton. They fit the Big East if that league decided to expand. VCU on the other hand doesn't fit that league at all

Xavier would do everything they can to block Dayton. I've always been of the opinion that Dayton and St. Louis would be great additions to the Big East, but obviously Fox Sports feels otherwise or else it would have already happened. If Dayton comes to the AAC, I don't think they are going anywhere for a long time unless the league blows up.

If Dayton makes sense add them as #3. If they decide they want the Big East in the future, that is a large buyout anyway.

Dayton would fit the AAC fine. They have a city brand.

The NBE wants a "Round Robin"...

BEH, Just curious, do you still want UMASS in the AAC? I didn't realize how bad they were until I looked at the standings. UMASS finished 12th in the A-10. 12th! You used to be pretty high on UMASS. A 1-11 football team and 12th in the 1 bid A-10. What's happening there? I only liked the idea of them because they are a good academic flagship and I thought they had good basketball...I guess they don't.

Cheers!
