Someone please explain to me why the Mac wrestling Championship is being hosted by Northern Iowa

Northern Iowa is part of the MAC for Wrestling.

Sorry, just looked it up. Didn't know they joined the conference for wrestling.

Assume you also noticed that Missouri is a MAC affiliate for wrestling as is Old Dominion.
MAC men's soccer includes West Virginia.
MAC men's tennis includes Binghamton from New York.
MAC men's swimming includes Evansville, Missouri State and Southern Illinois.
Missouri State is also a MAC affiliate for field hockey along with Longwood College from Virginia, just for trivia sake.

Announcers mix NIU and UNI up all the time when we are not even in the same arena/contest. Can't imagine the directional-school fun the MC's will have with this event.

Missouri wins fifth straight team title thanks to six Tigers capturing individual championships for 154.5 points, comfortably ahead of Northern Iowa at 106.5.
Third place is CMU (103.5), fourth Old Dominion (94) and fifth, the HUSKIES (92).....followed by Buffalo (80.5), EMU (64), OH (62.5), and KSU (55).

Media Relations notes NIU scoring its highest number of points (92) for a MAC Championship, but that's strictly spin. Points are relative to the number of schools and individual competitors. In 1985, NIU scored 89 points but took first place. In 2017, NIU finished four spots lower in fifth.

Five Huskies have qualified for the NCAA Championships, the most since 1985 when six Huskies made it.

3 of the 5 made it to the 2nd session on the 2nd day before getting eliminated. All were 1 win short of All American honors. (top 8 in each weight class). A good showing for the Huskies.
