Lawons's "Senior" Day
Dedric went out with a bang in his last game as a collegian in the FedEx Forum.

29 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists.

11/15 from the field, 2/4 from 3, 5/6 from FT.

Also, Wolo said this morning that no other Tiger in history has a had a season with 500 points, 300 rebounds and 100 assists.

Thanks for everything DL.

And good game from KJ with 13, 6 and a block.

Good luck wherever you end up next.

IF we were to lose the Lawsons and Crawford, I fathom to even think of what our record would be (even with a weak schedule). WOOF!

I think Azab is there next year.

I mean, he's still dressing out and practicing. If he wasn't interested, he already would've left.

Fine, I'll count him and a maybe on Chad...

still, yikes...

Who are we going to look to for scoring? A Freshman Jamal Johnson?

We need an impact, scoring guard transfer and some big bodies...

No worries. Coach BAM will close the deal.

Martin has carried the scoring load for us at times this year, I think he would be the most likely one to step into that role as a 3rd year guy who has played major minutes and will have the ball in his hands as the primary ball handler. Might be a lot to ask of him but maybe Clergeot steps up and can give us some good minutes and allow Martin to play some off the ball as a 2 and maybe Johnson as a combo guard and son of a former NBA player will come in ready to contribute and can also take on some of the ball handling and playmaking responsibilities and allow Martin to focus more on scoring.

I don't know, just looking for any reason at all to be the least bit optimistic.

What kind of blind fool would think it's an addition in losing the Lawson bros.? That's if the Lawson brothers actually do leave.

Pretty much anyone who is a coach lover. You season several "good riddance" posts and nonsense like "addition by subtraction."

Happened when Joe was on the fence. It happened when Tarik left. It happened with Austin. Same predictable folks...

Oh ok. I don't read every poster here. As for "coach lovers" I guess they are here like you say, but there has to be a third type of fan like myself. There are the "bash the coach cause I dislike he was the choice", there are the "coach lovers" as you suggest, and then there are fans like me, and maybe I'm in a big minority, I'm the fan that "likes Tubby and thinks he will do well but if he doesn't I'll sound off loudly" <----I'm the fan that views the situation as I'm waiting for Tubby to prove one way or the other that he can or can't get the job done. It's my view that it's too soon to pound on him.

As for those players you mentioned, it's dumb as dirt to think we would have been a better team without Joe, Austin, or Tarik.

Hey, I'm not bashing the guy because he "wasn't my choice."

I frustrated that he didn't come into this season with guns a blazin.

We know that this is a team that was probably one competent healthy big away from being (at the worst) a bubble team and with an additional wing, a quite probable NCAA team.

If it was a lack of effort to recognize this, I fault the staff. Certainly, in April, we ALL knew who was on the roster and that there were NUMEROUS spots available. Not being able to supplement this roster with just two serviceable players pissed me off.

If it wasn't a lack of effort, but a simple INABILITY to get to bodies while promising all you can eat minutes to a program as well known as Memphis to a future hall of fame coach--that is even MORE concerning.

Well enough.

Now we look at the recruiting haul for 2017. Paltry at best. Arguably, (as of now) one of the worst classes in terms of top of the class talent in 20 years. That is a concern.

Finally, we were always told to fall back on the "he will coach em up." What I take that to mean is that with the talent assembled, the team will handle less talented teams, play even talent teams a little better than 50/50, and steal a game once in a while from better teams (emphasis on "once in a while").

I haven't seen that. Losing to Monmouth (up by 12) and Tulsa. Losing at home to Temple. I know the players are just human, but at least three times a guy who is heralded as someone who will "coach em up" lost to teams they should have beaten (and twice at home).

So that's really it. I think those are pretty dispassionate points that are backed by logic and thought, not merely a "he sucks" type point of view.

People disagree but my thoughts certainly aren't without points.

I don't think they are leaving, so the whole thread isn't bad.
