Colin Kaepernick won't protest during national anthem during 2017 season
Quote:Colin Kaepernick's national anthem protest won’t carry over into next season, USA TODAY Sports confirmed Thursday.

Kaepernick, who is expected to opt out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, either sat or kneeled while The Star-Spangled Banner was played before Niners games last season, a protest meant to draw attention to racial inequality and police brutality. He will discontinue his public protest in 2017, wherever he plays next season, a person with knowledge of Kaepernick's plans told USA TODAY Sports' Tom Pelissero.

Probably only saying this so he has a chance at getting picked up by another team since he went free agent.

He sucks anyway. He should be watching the games from his couch like us…and not getting paid so much money for mediocrity.

Yup.

No one else wants that distraction, Fran Sicko is probably about the only place that would have tolerated thus far. Course with my luck he ends up in Minn., they'd probably allow it too...

Nothing changed via his efforts, so is this his admitting that he was wrong?

He won't need to protest from his living room. Who in the hell would hire this nutter now? He is a mediocre QB anyway.

I'll bet money with anyone here that he gets picked up by someone. Now, he likely won't get as much money to sign as he would like - but he will be on another team this year competing for a starting job.

Frankly, if he's smart, he will go somewhere that has a "quarterback guru" on hand. He actually was pretty good when Harbaugh (great with QBs) was at San Fran and his play didn't really go in the toilet until Harbaugh was gone......

Yep. He needs someone to sign him and evidently realizes that no one wants racial distractions on their teams. Will be interesting to see where it goes. There are plenty of teams with QB issues in the NFL.

Yep. The free agent QB pool this year is really weak. When his main competition is Ryan Fitzpatrick and Case Keenum it's pretty much assured that somebody will give him a deal.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has willingly immersed himself into controversy by refusing to stand for the playing of the national anthem in protest of what he deems are wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States.

Kaepernick cares about the wrongdoings of blacks and minorities.......unless it could affect his paycheck.

Well, isn't that how most people ultimately make choices?? It has to be something rrreally important to allow it to screw with a job......a really good job.
