Scheduling agreement with Liberty?
"This scheduling agreement could allow the Flames to play 4-6 games per season against another G5 conference, such as the Conference USA or Sun Belt, and then schedule another 4-6 games against other Independent schools and Power 5 opponents with 1 FCS game per season."

Apparently Liberty is trying to get a Notre Dame/ACC agreement. The SBC and CUSA are being the main ones talked about. Would y'all be interested in this? Would this be essentially a tryout for them to get into the conference if needed later on? I'm just looking to see what the pros and cons in yalls mind would be of agreeing to this.

I posted this on the SBC forum but figured I would put one over here too.

Can you have negative interest in playing someone?

RE: Scheduling agreement with Liberty?
No. We just got the schedule balanced again with 14 teams in CUSA. An agreement with Liberty is going to mess that up. Additionally, I don't think our athletic brain trust or fan base would be thrilled about giving up one of our four nonconference games in the near future to add Liberty. If this is something Liberty is interested in I wish them luck with the Sun Belt.

RE: Scheduling agreement with Liberty?
It would be a good thing for some of the eastern schools. Gives us another close opponent, while not having to sacrifice any of the good OOC games we've already scheduled. But I'm not sure what CUSA west teams would have to gain. And decisions like this should be a good move for everyone, not just the east.

+1 If they are willing to pay i can see two or three eastern schools agreeing to rotate their schedule with liberty but i do not see rest of the conference agreeing to this and may be money can convince them. I personally hate seeing ODU and Liberty in the same line but what ever it is a FB game and if they are willing to pay that works for me.

Liberty is a pariah... The SoCon wouldn't get near them. If CUSA does, it just shows where we are as a league.

And while I couldn't care less about what's happening in Lynchburg, you put your first paragraph in quotes without identifying the source, so we have no idea who said that.

This. MT has had it too easy avoiding ODU these last couple of years. We don't want to go through that again. If you want to play Liberty schedule an OOC game.

It's from a Liberty fan site. Until it is vetted or even mentioned, by a legit media source I'm not going to really put much stock in it.

I don't mind playing them, but prefer it to be OOC. At least its a drivable game. I expect ODU will eventually have them on the schedule. If LU has any involvement with CUSA they need to bring their TV network with them. Maybe we could force them to air other CUSA games on their network as part of the deal. They need to sweeten the deal more than the average team.

Let me put it this way, I wouldn't spit on Baby Falwell if he was in front of me and on fire.

LMAO. I think you got that backwards.

Can we get ODU instead of La Tech?

RE: Scheduling agreement with Liberty?
Cannot fathom any benefit to MT or our fans that would arise from playing the "Righteous Boys of Jerry Falwell U". 04-jawdrop Maybe, if they gave us the $15,000,000 we need to build that proposed Indoor Practice Facility? Nah! Of Course if we let them join CUSA, we get a Reserved Spot on the Salvation Train to Heaven, Don't we? 03-shhhh
Seriously, I'm happy for any university that wants to play serious Division 1 Football and wish them luck; but we don't need the Flames!
