Actually, if the A10 was smart, they would hold their tourney at the Verizon center in DC; you have gw and gmu around the corner and vcu an hour and a half away. You can also draw alums from bmore only 45 minutes away as well.

RE: Best place for AAC bball tourney
I don't know.

Could we get rid of the conference tournaments and play another weekend of NCAA tournaments? Sort-of like "Hoosiers" with the highly ranked teams getting a weekend off and the lower ranked first weekend teams hosting a game on their campus.

We could have a tournament of 256 teams. Currently, there are 351 teams competing in the NCAA.

Those empty arenas, playing on Tuesday, in the conference tournaments next week may change your mind. Conference tournaments used to be Fri, Sat, and Sun (or Thu, Fri, Sat). Now they start on Tuesday.

Other than alternating sites with the ACC (Barclays, Verizon, Charlotte, etc.):

Prudential Center- Newark, NJ
American Airlines Arena- Miami
TD Garden- Boston
Dunkin Donuts Center- Providence
Royal Farms Arena- Baltimore

The AAC is going to look like idiots placing the tourney in Hartford this year when the arena is empty when UConn is out. At least last year was a vacation destination.

Should have done it in New Orleans. Memphis is the best locale though. Philly isn't bad either. Hartford is literally one of the worst places to have it and this genius conference has had it there 2 out of the 4 years.

Hartford is a terrible locale; 'nawlins, Philly, Memphis, Tampa or Otown are way better.

Memphis

Destination town
Decent spot geographically

Then maybe alternate it with New Orleans

I agree with this. Should rotate between new orleans, memphis, orlando and philly. Tampa occasionally as well. Cinci wouldn't be bad either, imo. Should only be in Uconn if already been through the other cities mentioned.

Yes to Memphis! Would love to see us try New Orleans but I don't see that happening.

LOL... Playing in front of 300 fans in a huge arena. Great idea.

This conference needs to go back to on-campus hosting.

According to some other threads I have read. There is nothing more American than a game in London!

Cinci's new right size on campus arena would be the best spot for conf tournament as locals would buy thousands of tournament booklets.

Those that suggest cities that either can't draw more than 200 fans to see their own AAC team play or even a city WITHOUT an AAC team have obviously never been to this or even the past CUSA Tournament (HINT: Thousands and thousands of fans do NOT travel for this tournament, hence why 80%-90% of all Tix sales have to be local.)
