Season ticket renewal
I renewed my two seats in the upper level today. They said they don't have two seats together in the lower bowl. I guess that's good news for the team but bad news for me.

The ticket office says after April 17 that any seats not renewed will be opened up for everyone else.

RE: Season ticket renewal
Yikes. I called about 2 courtside season tickets last week and was told the waiting list is 100 names deep. Only 1 or 2 gave up their seats from last season to this one. At that rate, I'll be courtside in my mid-80s! Haha

RE: Season ticket renewal
I wish I would've just picked a seat behind the benches this year when I had the chance. I'll be stuck up in the rafters for years.

On a side note- nevadas coach said on the radio that they're having a hard time filling out their schedule next year. I hope he calls Majerle!

Within the next 10 years, if not 5, GCU will be building another arena because it costs more to expand the arena than build a new one.

RE: Season ticket renewal
I recently heard Coach Majerle say he thought 7000 seats was the perfect size. I realize it may not ultimately be his call, but I think there is a lot that would have to happen before a whole new arena was given serious consideration.

RE: Season ticket renewal
It probably isn't his call, but with the number of students that they want to bring in, plus the interest from the outside, it makes less sense for them not to build a new one than not.

How far away is Talking Stick Arena or whatever they call it now? Is it close enough to campus to be a viable option in the distant future?

7,000 is not bad though, it really is a good size. Gonzaga seats only 6,000. In the future they could move the really big games to the Suns arena like Big East schools do.

You don't want to overbuild. Keeping demand high helps the excitement, renewals, etc.

Veteran's Memorial is much closer to campus, and is probably still painted Purple.

I've been saying for 2 years that GCU should be begging UA for a neutral site exhibition game at the Veteran's Memorial Colessium to open 2017-18. Majerle returns to the building where it all started for him. GCU celebrates transition being over. UA gets to stick it to ASU by out drawing Sundevils in their own town. Valley Wildcat fans/alum get to cheer for them in Phoenix. Everybody wins!

Probably not. While it is a very short drive, like 10 minutes tops, downtown is such a mess with the parking, it may drive people away and probably students as well.

Downtown parking, especially in the evening, is easy. I go down there all the time for Dback games, Mercury Games, Rattlers Games, etc.

Plus, The Light Rail is only two miles from GCU arena - an easy shuttle for big games, and there is plans to extend the light rail down Camelback past GCU.

RE: Season ticket renewal
I don't see downtown as an option. I don't think Mueller would ever allow revenue to leave campus. Even if they did some sort of revenue sharing and it was a couple games... I just don't see it. Honestly, none of should be talking about expansion of an arena until everyone in the arena is buying tickets. There are probably still at least 1 1,000 tickets if not more, that are given away for free to employees and outside groups and more tickets are sold for less than $5. They would first need to be able to sell all tickets, then maybe raise single game prices. After that, if GCU still has 7,000 + consider a new arena. However... where will they put it. The current location of the arena does not seem like a big enough footprint. They have land at 27th ave and camelback, but have all but filled that space. That location would have been a perfect location for a new 10,000 seat arena, right next to the GCU hotel and Canyon 49 restaurant.

Does gcu have plans to buy that storage facility between the arena and that other parking garage?

I think they would if they could, but... I don't see that dude selling. He's had a weird relationship with GCU. They would also love to have the corner of 35th ave and camelback where the El Taco Tote is located, but that dude won't sell at a reasonable price apparently.

Remember when that storage facility guy would troll GCU with his marquee out front. Those were the days! Haha

Well there are some people that are living right off the main part campus that GCU has supposedly offered them like 10 times the value of the land and they still won't move.
