I stream Netflix and Amazon, and ESPN channels through Roku. It works fantastic, but the Youtube app on Roku absolutely stinks. It's slow and the search function barely works.
I personally use a chromecast. I connect to the same wireless network that the chromecast is on, and the youtube app has a built in function to cast your videos to the tv the chromecast is plugged into.
It turns your phone or tablet into a remote. You search for content the same way you would as if through your phone, but it is viewed on the tv.
Smart TV's have this functionality too.
I'm old and somewhat technology savvy but when it comes to this stuff I'm lost. I do have a 22 year old son who could help though. Only thing I don't like is no Animal Planet. How am I going to find out if they find bigfoot?
I get Animal Planet and about 50 other useful stations in Channel Peal app (both Fire TV and Roku) for $25 a year.

He can just get animal planet and 4 other channels for free

Please don't be geo-blocked, please don't be geo-blocked, please don't be geo-blocked...
Hopefully they don't hire the team that does the DNS/VPN scrub for Netflix and I should be good. Gotta get me some sports over here in Asia.

Not sure what geo-blocked is but on Channel Pear the Golf Channel is listed as Geo-Locked yet I still get it.

Interesting article about ESPN and the NFL.

Sure will be interesting to see what ESPN is willing/able to dish out in the future once these deals expire.
NFL/MNF - 2021
Big 12 - 2025
NBA - 2025
MLB - 2021
Pac 12- 2023
SEC - 2023

I just bought a new Sony 4K television for my office. It has Android TV and the Youtube app. Many connected televisions have the Youtube app included.
I also have an Apple TV. I watch Youtube all the time through the Apple TV.
Additionally, I have a Fire Stick. Youtube is on there, too.
