Would be nice to not have to switch sources though. I think Vue only holds recordings for a month, but - once again - not a big deal for me. Not having AMC is more important to me than those. Price is the same. Vue has been solid technically and administratively. Good to have options, but it'll take more to lure me away.

One of the local channel is now listed in Vue for my area. Maybe switching source will become a thing of the past with the streaming services.

We have a home office, and company pays for our Comcast internet.

My DirectTV 2-yr plan ends this month.

Any suggestions ?

You made the choice to order Directv's highest price package or at the very least second highest. There is nothing stopping you from going with a low price package from Directv.

I assume that is what you thought was best for you ad your family. So if that is still the case you are out of luck in finding a streaming service that will get you what you wanted.

In those two years you also had the NFL Sunday package for free. Any NFL game you wanted to watch was at your finger tips.

If you wanted something close to what this topic is about I would suggest going to a lower package with the sports channels. If you decide to go back with Directv end your contract and sign back up in your wife's name. Directv hates given deals to those that already have their service. For the last 6 years we switch from having it my name and 2 years after my wife's. This way you always have up to date equipment and dish. Always made them install a new dish and boxes.

But did you really pay the $150 a month for those 24 months? Or did it average out to around $104 over the 24 months?

Right now on Directv it's $75 a month for 12 and then $134 a month for the next 12. Your sport package would bring that up $13 a month.

$ 75
00 mo

Plus taxes. For 12 months. Req’s 24 mo. TV agmt. Regional sports fee applies in certain markets. Reg. Price $134.00/mo.

That would be the 240+ channels including movie-lovers' package. 14 movie channels—including every ENCORE channel. Plus, watch your favorite entertainment come to life on the first-ever live 4K channel.

You also get a $100 visa gift card which take the amount you pay down $4 if spread out over the 24 months

In our 6 years with Directv they drop a channel or the local channels gets threaten to be dropped because of fees they charge to Directv. So those channels might go out for 1 to 7 days over the 24 months. That will be great for you if you take advantage of it. If they drop channels call them. Make sure they understand what ever channel they dropped was your sole reason for getting their service. Of course they know that's bullcrap. But they will offer you something for free. Usually movie channels. Turn them down...you will end up with $10 to $15 off your bill for 6 to 12 months.

I think we did pay less for the first year. We had UVerse at our other home, but when we moved 2 years ago UVerse wasn't available in my new area.

We also have 2 firesticks and a Chromecast that I use quite often. I watch mostly sports, and the wife does HDTV and Discovery.

RE: YouTube TV
Not really that great of a deal for me. I ditched cable and it saves me roughly 49 a month. But it had many more channels than youtube is going to offer plus all of those that it does.

When I made that statement, I wasn't aware that Vue had cloud DVR. That's what I was basing it on (mostly). Now that others have talked about Vue, I might have to try it out.

Hulu is also supposed to be coming out with a live TV service soon. Competition is certainly heating up.

RE: YouTube TV
Enjoy this streaming (if it truly is a good deal) while you can because once it's main stream....

like everything else

Those small(er) companies offering deals to beat the other guy. Gets bought up and you end up with a very few options. Then the fees, 10 taxes, hidden cost, and everything else that has drove prices up....

kicks in
