Akron has definitely fallen back towards the mean in the second half of the MAC season. In my opinion, they have only played 2 good games since the middle of January. Still could win the tourney since there is no really impressive team in the MAC this year, but disappointing as a fan to be sure.
Kwan picked up his 4th foul with 6 minutes left then immediately picked up a technical for reportedly using an f bomb which fouled him out of the game. It also put Miami at the line for 4 free throws (they made all of them) to trim an 11 point deficit to 7. The fallout continued from there.

If UB wins and Akron or WMU wins then the worst Buffalo will do is #3.... So I guess I'm rooting for the zips, broncos, and bulls

In the past three years were 3-3... so there is that.
actually its 2-4 in the regular season, 3-4 overall.
The 3 games in Athens have been Ohio +2 on a last second NDour dunk, Ohio +7 in overtime, and Buffalo +4 tonight. all very close. This year's game @Buffalo fits into that with Ohio +2 at the buzzer. the other 2 games @Buffalo were blowouts, Buffalo +27 and Ohio +19.

And all 5 10-7 teams play at home on Friday.
Only one of the five (Akron-Kent) looks like a toss up game.
Miami hasn't won two straight games all season ...
BG is playing well but ...
Central is swirling the drain
Ball State is just as hot as WMU, EMU Buff and Kent.
The shame of it is ... teams that don't get a bye will be playing/traveling for a Monday game, not Tuesday, and a lot of MAC teams have cut their bench time considerably ... could be more than one first round upset ...

Someone from this five-way tie is going to get Central Michigan at home Monday. I know the Chips are struggling, but that is still a scary first-round matchup

What do I know, but I have the feeling Central has packed it in for the season. I'm more concerned about Eastern or Toledo from the teams that will most likely have to host a home game in the first round. I think they will likely be in a 6 through 8 seed position, as a tough first round out in Cleveland.

I agree that there could be very dangerous teams not named Akron, Ohio, Buffalo, etc.
BTW, who is the hottest team in the MAC going into the weekend? Any team which is 2 - 1 their last three games???
Not Akron which is 1 - 3 their last 4. Ohio has lost 2 in a row.
I don't see much difference between 10 - 7 and 7 - 10 teams.
This year's tourney could be the most wide open in recent memory.

Akron has regressed quite considerably in the past ~2 weeks. The MACT might be interesting with this level of parity, but whatever team we send to the NCAAT will likely get waxed as nobody is looking that good at the moment.

I beg to differ ... despite their overall record WMU is playing really good basketball right now. With the right draw, they could win a NCAA Tournament game ... if EMU has another week of good basketball in them, they could win a game.
If Akron gets out of its funk ... them too. Ohio is the Vegas favorite, but they are not looking close ... Bobcats have beaten only two .500 MAC teams (league play) since AC went down.
My guess if one of these lower seeds wins the MAC tournament, they will get a P.I.G. in Dayton, which might not be all bad as that is a game any number of MAC Teams can win giving the MAC a NCAA Tournament win which counts on the books.

Never heard the acronym (P.I.G.) before but I like it and it wouldn't be bad for the MAC. Better than one and done on Thursday or Friday...
BTW, Akron is still my pre-tourney favorite. Just because they hit a speed bump doesn't negate all they have done this year. Teams run hot and cold (just ask EMU fans) and next week is a brand new week. Whomever is hot this week might be cold next week...
#parity

Akron could perhaps salvage a 14 seed, but I can't see any other MAC team doing better than a 15. Whoever wins the MAC they will be looking to face a top 10 team.

Assuming the winners of the smaller conferences are the current top teams...
The winners of the MEAC, SWAC, NEC, Big West, Big Sky & Southland would be the 16 seeds & playn in games. The Atlantic Sun, Patriot, Summit, & southern would be the 15s. There would be a bunch of teams in the 60-100 range RPI Wise for the 14s and 13s. If Akron wins the tourney id guess them to be a 13.
