Not likely. But that's why they call it March madness. They certainly won't do it playing the same style and strategy they've used in the regular season as it has been an underachieving hot mess. This is a team loaded with senior players who have a ton of playing experience and have won many games in the previous two years. Teams like this are the ones you see winning with cunning, guile, and savvy. They are supposed to be winning games that they shouldn't win on paper.

I would love to see a reliance on the 3-2 half court defense and a reliance on three point shooting for offense. The current players were very good at both last year, but have been coached away from it this year.

What say ye?
Can the Dukes do it?
If so, how?
Perhaps by scoring more points than their opponents?
Should they forfeit in Efforts to cover the spread?
Is Doggie Style a description of our offensive scheme?
Do you want the season to end quickly to ease the pain?

Hart, all they did vs. Hofstra was launch 3's! I feel like your comments don't always match the gameplay.

They did have 4 wins in a row this year and they beat Drexel and Towson in that streak. Lost to CoC by 2 at home, 13 on the road. Even if they got that lucky, UNCW would hammer them in the finals.

.... Hell No

The real question is will this group of seniors graduate without ever winning a conference tournament game?

So far, the fanbase faith meter is pegged on zero. Can anyone give us a reason to believe?

I agree that the game to me kind of had a last year feel to it only without Curry on the team. JMU did shoot a lot of 3s (25 compared with their avg. of about 19 up until that point). They came out in a zone to start the game as well. Re: the thought that Rowe doesn't call plays on offense what about the repeated possessions where Brown hit open shots from the free throw line? This years JMU team is better coached on offense vs. zone defense. Last year they seemed clueless against the zone.

I think sometimes Hart wears the Roddy Piper "They Live" sun glasses and sees different things than the rest of us when watching the team.

Very unlikely- this team hasn't shown an ability to win multiple games in a row and they are undermanned. When they did start the season off well in conference Dalembert was on the team and I think in conference play a guy like that makes a big difference in the half court.

The style that you prefer didn't work the last few years in the CAA T and isn't feasible without a good PG. The CAA T and post season often is about execution in the half court and having guys on offense who can create their own shots and get to the line. JMU really doesn't have that. One of the things I do agree with you on is the zone. I could see playing more zone in the CAA T because of how he games are officiated, the number of games JMU would have to win/play in a row, etc.

We'll see but in order to make a run JMU would need the few guys they have who may be capable (depending on the match up) of getting their own shot to play inspired and the best basketball that they have ever played in their careers (i.e. McLean, Brown, Snowden).

No. I don't even think the Dukes can win 1 game.

Let me put it this way.... I think Rhode Island has a better chance of winning the CAA football title.

RE: Can the Dukes win 4 in 4 days?
The better question is what will this team look like next year. Based on what we know right now, it would seem that they will have upgraded the talent level with respect to athleticism, but they'll be very inexperienced with three guys with extensive playing time in the Toledo transfer (Mosley), Snowden and McLean; the VCU transfer (Scissum); four incoming freshman and the two returning JUCOs. They've also got at least three openings to fill. I've completely lost interest in this season, so I'm looking towards next season, when Rowe will have to show some improvement or we'll be looking to replace him in the year after that quite possibly. With no track record as a coach, we can only look to his results at JMU to gauge him, of course. I still recall Mike Deane saying it would take three years to judge progress made when Rowe was announced as the new head coach.

With just about every sport JMU offers, both men's and women's, being at least above average competitively in the CAA, men's bball really needs to get their collective **** together.
