You can get Bein on Direct for only $10 a month, then cancel when basketball season is over...ESPN3 just does not work for me, it goes in and out on my laptop, no sound on TV and still sketchy graphics....Only way ESPN3 works well for me is viewing it on my phone which is a small screen compared to a 50 inch TV...Rather still have DVR to record, pause and watch live games, beats the unknown streaming of ESPN3 for me..

Get an Apple TV/Roku/Fire Stick for ESPN 3/Watch ESPN. It is a much cleaner experience than trying to hook up a computer to a TV. Now if you have janky WiFi that is a horse of a different color.

Wifi is not great in Kentucky for some reason, ESPN3 has always been spotty for me....

It all depends on your equipment and ISP. My TV is 100% streaming-based and WatchESPN/Fox Sports Go/SlingTV on Apple TV is a clearer and smoother picture than I ever had on cable. Now I'm running 200 Mbps internet with an AirPort Extreme router so that makes a difference...

I watched every game I wasn't at on TV last year and DVRed the ones I attended. Sounds like a personal issue to me.

You don't have the sports package? Why?

I have an Apple TV unit and get it on my big screen TV for free via the internet connection with the Apple TV. The picture quality along with the sound quality is as good as the production of the programming allows it to be.

As for beIN sports on DirecTV being accessible for $10 a month more I was aware of that. Our bill is already over $100 so we are not anxious to add to that total. There is also a handling fee to add then again to subtract programming.

I hear your comments about your situation with ESPN3 at your house. I totally agree that being able to record the games is a big plus. Your concerns about ESPN3 along with my own with beIN are why we need to try to get the teams on a more universally visable station like ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, Fox Sports, ASN, etc. I am not optimistic that it will happen anytime soon though.

All you have to do is call DirecTV & complain about the price and say you're considering to move to another service and bye will drop the price as well as throw in a ton of free crap. We've been with DirecTV for a decade and I think we've only paid full price for a limited time frame plus had free HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc 6 or 7 months every year plus paid less than half price for NFL Sunday Ticket every year. If you get someone who won't wheel & deal just hang up and call back later & eventually you will find someone who will give you the world to keep you.

The status quo is not acceptable. I hope Judy realizes this.

Between MacLeod and Rose, I never want to meet another Judy again. Hate that name now.

RE: C-USA to Begin TV Talks This Spring
Ya'll are nuts. The media rights money isn't there for us. There's no way we see a worthwhile increase in revenue, even if a C-USA school gets the access bowl. It's not there for the AAC, the SBC, the MWC, or the MAC.

Also realize one of the major reasons our deal sucked: Our presidents wanted to play on Saturdays. I think they got it right. Watching last year's midweek MAC/Sunbelt games reinforced my viewpoint. The fan support suffers, nobody cares anyway, and the commentary is downright insulting.

One thing you have to admit with ASN and BeIN: The announcers are involved in the game, not promoting the next SEC matchup, and they play it at reasonable times on Saturdays. Our schools will get into the national spotlight if they win big games, but don't start deluding yourself into thinking it will make TV money appear. That ship has sailed, hit an iceberg and sunk.

The schools NEED to upgrade their own production and start showing a good broadcast. The market is becoming more a la carte, and less Tuesday night filler football. Get your 1 marquee matchup on ESPN/FOX/CBS at noon or 1 on Saturday, and the rest is up to the schools/BEin/ASN.

Sorry, but ASN blows. The announcers aren't even at the games sometimes!

Halftime show is decent. One of your former HC's is on there.

Fox has done that as well. Not sure why you think ASN blows. I think they bring a respectable production value to something that would otherwise be on radio only.

RE: C-USA to Begin TV Talks This Spring
ASN is awful. The picture freezes, they have terrible audio problems, the cameras don't follow the action well and its not even in HD. It looks worse than a 1970s broadcast. CUSA TV is better quality. If they could at least get the games in HD it would be a start. Its better than no TV, and thats about it.

I agree that Saturday games are important. If playing on Thursday only brings in an extra $100,000 to $200,000 per team its not worth it. You make that up in ticket sales, concessions and sponsorships easily. If it brought in $400 or $500k more per team, then it might be something to consider. I doubt anyone is going to pay CUSA $7 million more to play on Thursdays though.

My Dish package has all the ASN games and if I watch the local over the air broadcast it is in SD but the same game is always on one or more of the regional sports networks on my Dish package and those are in HD.

Interesting. I have FIOS and get the actual ASN channel, but the picture is very fuzzy any time there is movement in the games. It seems to clear up for a moment when the camera focuses on a stationary player during a T.O. My wife won't even watch ASN games with me because its so bad.

That sucks. Its comes in crystal clear HD on Cox in Norfolk on that MyNetwork channel.

ASN is only in SD on Suddenlink. It's not a good picture at all. But I went out to my uncles to watch the Marshall-Charlotte game and it is crystal clear HD on DirecTV.
