Matt Furjanic, who sees Simons as an evolving talent who can flourish in the right system. Furjanic would know. He coached at Division I Robert Morris (1979-84) and Marist (1984-86) and has sent 27 Polk players to Division I programs and nearly 60 to four-year schools.
“I’ve never had a guy put up the numbers he’s put up in two years — and I had Rick Smits at Marist and Chipper Harris at Robert Morris,” said Furjanic, whose freshman-laden team is 9-19. “He’s our go-to guy and every school knows it. He’s being defended 94 feet each game. They just can’t stop him.”
During a sizzling three-game stretch this month, Simons scored 32, 43 and 32 points. He was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8 Player of the week on Feb. 6. This came after he averaged 37.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists in wins against Florida Southwestern and St. Petersburg.

So he's like a short 2 guard?
Not being snarky. Snarky doesn't apply to a guy who scores 26 PPG.

I think so - his assist totals are not high.
Sounds like he can score though - have to wonder how it translates to each level and if he can carry over to high DI.
But add him to the growing late period list and I'm feeling a tad better about the chances they will at least have a full roster going into next year.

If Azab ins't a stiff and Enoh turns out to be a good pickup close to the level of Tarik as a Freshman we will be in business if someone figures out how to shoot and penetrate.

And you don't need Ray Allen either, though he'd be nice.
Look at UH - Rob Gray - JC transfer (Howard JC) - shoots 39% from 3 - and Dotson is an DI transfer (Oregon) - shoots 45% from 3.
Just have to get your evaluations correct and then develop the talent, put them in the right system.
Sampson runs a team of castoffs and is 3rd in the league now.

Yup - it's really not that hard. We need shooting - go get at least one guy who is a dead eye shooter.

I think that a lot of staffs get caught up looking at measurables...they don't want a 6-2 shooting guard, they want a 6-5 shooting guard...but in retrospect, a lot of folks missed on Rob Gray...it's the same reason a 6-6 JC PF will slip through cracks and then go average 10 rpg in the Valley or Mountain West or whatever.
