Surprise Surprise... $100 goes further in conservative states that aren't burdened by excessive government taxes.

What would be really neat is to tie that in with median salary

Surprise, surprise....conservative areas tend to have less economic activity and therefore have cheaper costs.

Well, I'm sure the median salaries are less in states where $100 buys more. This is why the $15 minimum wage across the entire US is stupid........but that's what the Federal government is good at - making blanket rules that don't make sense.

Well, Texas has plenty of economic activity and they still outpace Cali and NY fairly substantially.

If you did that correlation though you would have the best state to live in. I bet you Ohio is up there.

It probably is, but to most of the liberal talking heads, it's no more than fly-over country. You know - just a bunch of dumb hillbillies.

I always click into those "Best/Worst states to retire in" that various publications put out. Given that retirees are generally on fixed incomes, the tax situation of each state always is one of the main factors. The New York, California, NJ, Mass, Conn always end up toward the bottom of such a list because of the taxes.....

Considering the amount of Ohio-expats moving down here you need to spread that word. Then we wouldn't have to keep hearing "Back in Ohio we did it like this..."

C'mon Kap - your weather is most definitely a huge drawing card. Ohio winters can suck - now, not this winter, but they often suck. So much so that I'm looking south for retirement. I promise I'll be just as conservative as they are in SC. I grew up in the hillbilly part of Ohio.

That was my first thought as well. I think they all come south to just spread the word about how awesome the place is. It's really kind of a public service thing on their part.

Aren't you the one drinking the bourbon with ice in it?

You gotta stay up North.

I reckon you can come.

It just always kills me when you meet a yankee immigrant who says they moved down here for the lower taxes......then they want all the fluff stuff they had up north that caused their taxes to be sky high.

The Carolina's are simply a great place to live. This is another reason why.
