Garber?
Is it me or do all of us not know what the status of Zack's injury. The Blade has not reported on his availability?

I read somewhere that UT was going to apply for a redshirt for Zach. Not sure if that's what is going to happen.

We don't seem to have much luck with the NCAA with those...seems like the P5 schools get 'em handed out like candy, though...

He played in more than 20% of the games, doesn't that make him not qualified to RS... wish we could get info from UT. He would help these last two weeks or so.

RE: Garber?
I can't imagine he'd get a redshirt year, he has to have played in too many games. Even if he did quality, not sure I'd want him back other than as a body. It's not like he's elevated his game like Booth or Casey Shaw. At this point I'd rather take my chances with the new guys or even Donal.

They are applying for a medical hardship redshirt.

yes the NCAA seems to give a little more leeway to their "money maker schools" like Kentucky who never has anyone stick around to graduate....... 05-stirthepot

If Garber were to return, that would mean Gordon, Antunez, Roberts, Adway, Sanford, Knapke and Navigato would be returning players. That's 8. We have 2 transfers and 3 incoming freshmen bringing us to a max of 13. The NCAA doesn't consider medical waivers until the season is over, so we could be in a bind in terms of other offers, waiting possibly months. BTW, Garber played in 14 games. Don't see it happening.

RE: Garber?
On the radio show tonight, Coach K talked about each of the seniors, and didn't say anything about a medical redshirt for Garber.

A few other things from Coach K: Said that redshirt freshman James Gordon has made more progress than any other RFr he's had. Said 6-7 transfer Tre'Shaun Fletcher could play any position from the 1 to 4. Called him a difference maker. About 6-5 transfer Willie Jackson, he compared him to Rian Pearson, but needs to work on his 3 point shot.

About the incoming freshmen, said Rose can drive to the basket on anybody, but needs to work on his outside shooting, Called Marreon Jackson the best senior PG in Ohio. Said Logan Hill is a lot like Lauf in that he will be a fan favorite. Plays an exciting game. Called him 6-6 (?) and could play some PF.

Quote from K about recruits, "There's more to come".

Not to be snaky, but of course he is going to say that. The proof is in the pudding, as they say.

RE: Garber?
I heard the same segment of the Coaches Show; have to question the evaluation that I heard...he implied Rose was like his uncle and raved about each one of the frosh and transfers, which he should. Just have to hope it is finally the mix that he can get to the promise land. Time will tell. Let's just hope the hype matches the output.

RE: Garber?
I don't think his analysis of the new guys is over the top but they still gotta prove it against good comp. Fletcher is good. He was one of the more talented guys on a loaded Colorado roster then he was there, just couldn't quite put it together in a way that made him a go to guy. With a year to mature and improve and moving down a notch in competition should be enough to make him excel. He was a top 100 HS talent and had a few point a minute games at Colorado. Also rocks a mean beard.

W Jackson strikes me like Pearson too in his attitude and athleticism. Plus, he's bigger.

M Jackson is a sleeper. Really productive and composed player who has a bit of a funny looking body and shot which probably made him peak as a MAC recruit.

Yeah, Lauf is a good comparison for Hill although that assumes Hill wants to work as hard at developing his defensive footwork and technique. Hill has a bigger frame and more hops than Lauf so potentially he could be another high level role player.

So is it safe to assume that they cannot get him another year since he played?

Yep. TK confirmed in his post-game that Garber played in too many games to be eligible for the medical waiver.

It was a pleasure to watch him play this year and see how hard he has worked and the improvement in his game.
