Akron wins 4th straight MAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championship

I doubt anybody here follows the sport too closely, but what Akron is doing would have been impossible to imagine five years ago. They were a fledgling program that was completely noncompetitive. It was viewed as a mistake whose resources could have instead gone to create a lacrosse or gymnastics team or something.

Cue the hiring of coach Brian Peresie from D-II Malone University and before that an assistant at (and alumnus of) Ohio. Four seasons as head coach, and four MAC Championships. His athletes are breaking MAC records left and right and some even competed in the last Olympic trials.

I would not at all be shocked if he gets scooped up shortly by a Power conference program.
