It would be nice if we could get 3 in. Dream scenario UCONN, UCF, or some other team (outside of SMU/UC) beats UH in the championship game and we get 4.

It depends. If SMU or Cincinnati get picked off in the quarters and if UH loses to anyone other than them in the Finals, I say no. They need at least one over them and 2 is optimal.

I'd like to think so. We need to finish the season out strong, which means winning our final two games of the regular season and kicking as much butt in the AAC tourney as possible.

As credible as you or me. No one knows what the committee will do, they always throw in a surprise no one sees coming, like Tulsa last year.

Over the last 3 years it is the 85th most accurate bracket out of 88 qualifying brackets. So in other words, it's terrible...07-coffee3

Houston could be this year's Tulsa.

The magic number seems to be 23.

The NCAA Selection committee met with Ken Pomeroy and others earlier this year to try and improve on the RPI.

We could be in for some surprises this year.

Generally speaking, if you are Top 40 in the Massey Composite, or a 10 seed or better in the BracketMatrix, you are good to go. The bubble starts after those cutoffs.

Houston has to get a quality win, regardless of how weak the bubble is this year. Without a win over SMU or Cincy, I'm not holding my breath Selection Sunday.

UH just needs to win the tourney. If we do that there's no debate.

This ^^^. Getting 1 win over Cincinnati or SMU would likely push Houston into the tournament. Houston getting to the championship game would clearly put them on the bubble though.

No, because the P 5 narrative says that a 17-13 Syracuse with one top 25 win passes the eye test.

Someone said it earlier, win out until the Conference Tourney Final, lose to either SMU or UC (not blown out) and I think you got a shot.

Houston has two "Must Wins"

1. Home vs ECU, and
2. Quarterfinal game (probably against Memphis)

If it wins those 2 games, Houston has two "Opportunity Games" of which it must win one:

1. @ Cincy, or
2. Semifinal game

USF can get in if they win the American championship (auto qualify). If Houston wins out, and wins 2 in championship they are in. JMO.

UH slides into "Next Four Out" category.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...acketology

A win over #18 UC on the road likely catapults UH into the "Last Four IN" but UH would still need to win 3 more in a row IMO after that in order to insulate themselves and obtain enough cushion to be able to withstand a loss in the AAC tourney championship game. Obviously, the opponent would dictate how far they would fall. Additionally, there are other factors such as upsets in lower tier conferences that could result in bid stealing. All in all, I think UH is safe if they reel off 4 more consecutive wins but even 1 loss during that stretch and you can put a fork in them unless they win the AAC tourney.

Disagree. Don't need to win at Cincy AND make the conference tournament finals.

Just need to win at Cincy OR the semifinal game, and take care of business vs ECU and the quarterfinal game.

Committee knows we were without our best front court player in tight home losses to Harvard and Memphis. Even if you assume we win one of those games with a healthy Davis, our RPI improves 10 spots. Win both, and it improves 20 spots.

Committee also knows that your only quality win (Rhode Island) was without their best front court player too...07-coffee3

There may be a conference tournament upset or two not to mention teams playing themselves in from below. Realistically, it's gonna take the auto-bid or two quality wins.
