RE: 2017 Football
Not that its that direct of a comparison, but some of the VP ODU coverage mentioned only a small fraction of their CUSA games being actually televised...and those are through the new ASN ("Stadium Channel"). The rest will be online ESPN3 etc. Stadium apparently is using Twitter to broadcast...I guess similar to the way Youtube was broadcasting some games last year.
It seems to me that the days of having traditional TV broadcasts of lower tier college football is gone and the best that we can hope for would be ESPN3 online.

I attend all of the games so I can't confirm, but I remember seeing this posted sometime last year.
It's not a broadcast deal with Roku. All it is is an app that allows for the streaming of any content from the CAA website. All the broadcasts are the in-house broadcasts of the home teams. Very different than a network deal which is telecast regionally/nationally, and more importantly, pays the teams and league $$.

Lots of the football players in the stadium early this morning throwing the ball around as we drove by.

With JMU being homecoming, I would have hoped there would be some foresight to attempt Tribe alum, individual ticket sales before they go on sale to the general public on Aug. 1st. I have seen no homecoming weekend marketing to this point along that line. Think we are setting this up for a much larger JMU crowd than needed to be, with no one to blame but ourselves. Registration for homecoming doesn't start until mid July. Imagine most non-season ticket holder alums are not going to be conscious of immediately getting in any registration and ticket purchase. I hope all seats, but the visitor section will be held back from public sale, until a reasonable time is given for purchase through homecoming registration. If not, then too late come Aug. 1st !

You are exactly right! It would be offensive if the JMU folks gobble up all the seats before Tribe folks can get them. (It is bad enough that the JMU band routinely plays in our stadium -- regardless of how good their band actually is).

Definitely a problem. Its already an uphill battle vs defending National Champs who return most of their team. We have a new QB, who could be nervous on their first homecoming start...need the fans to feed him confidence.
Could they postpone individual sales for Homecoming alone? Give a special "presale code" to alums to purchase early...sent via email/mailers?

Sorry
Good idea. Has that ever been done? We know JMU fans will be here in full force. Large alum base in Richmond, and they travel well, and after last year even more fans will be added. Too often Zable is docile. We have a lot of subdued fans

Challenge even with an extension is getting Tribe fan purchases. As noted, without marketing an extension would just delay ticket gobbling.

RE: 2017 Football
I was reading the JMU boards and is it true that we're blacklisted from ESPN?
(EDIT) let me rephrase, are we blacklisted from a deal?

He'll certainly bring a lot of inroads to PA/NJ recruiting, historically our sweet spot.

Please stop speculating on the coaching changes without the facts. Don't attach a name when you have no knowledge.

RE: 2017 Football
For those interested, here is the info on CAA Football Media Day, tomorrow.
William & Mary football head coach Jimmye Laycock, as well as tight end Andrew Caskin and cornerback Aaron Swinton, will participate in the 2017 CAA Football Media Day at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., on Tuesday, July 25.
Coverage of the event will be headlined by Media Day Live, which will be broadcast live via the CAA Football Facebook page at 10 a.m. EST. The two-hour show, hosted by Scott Klatzkin and Bobby Broyles, will include interviews with all 12 CAA Football head coaches, student-athletes from each school and CAA Commissioner Joe D'Antonio.
Media Day gets underway at 9 a.m., with opening remarks from D'Antonio and the announcement of the preseason all-conference team and predicted order of finish. The opening program can also be seen on Facebook Live.
There will be extensive coverage of CAA Football Media Day through the league's Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat accounts. Join the social conversation throughout the day using the official hashtag, #CAAFB. CAA Football Media Day Central at CAAFootball.com will provide a hub of news and information throughout the day and interview segments with coaches and student-athletes will also be available.
For those of us in Richmond, ESPN 950's Bob Black will be doing his show, live from Baltimore, from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Tuesday.
