Conference tournament
Does anyone know who has the tie breaker between Tigers and UCF? If we beat UH, Tulane and lose at SMU looks like we will tie in conference. I'm guessing they will split at home vs Cincy and road game at USF.

I'm not sure the 6th spot wouldn't be better for us anyway but that extra game is tough with depth situation. Avoids playing UConn in all probability.

I tend to agree. I'm not thrilled with the idea of playing UCONN at their place again.

At this point I don't think it matters. I'd just like to see the Tigers play consistently for 40 minutes. Right now we just play for only 10-15.

Yep.

For morale, will be nice to win these next two setting up the road game at SMU. Would also likely seal at minimum an NIT bid. Lose one of these next two and lose at SMU and team could need a few tourney wins just to make that.

I would rather end the season than see the team give a half hearted effort in NIT-they would not be excited to play in NIT.

Could UConn get third seed if we beat Houston and they win out (mot likely)?

Never have been a fan of the NIT since about 1976.

I watch just because but I ALMOST find myself rooting for Tigers to lose because I HATE THE NIT. BTW, Tim Jankovich has done the best damn job in the country and will soon be moving on to $4 yr job. SMU is good and well coached.

Team would likely not give a half effort in the NIT. Plus, after four consecutive tourneys, then dropping off and missing even the NIT, making that tourney would be an overall disappointing, but still unquestioned improving, result.

And so strongly suggest should our kids and school end up in the NIT, simply do not watch. Many would prefer otherwise.

We recognize your take here, please, if at all possible, recognize others.

RE: Conference tournament
Houston is virtually locked into the 3 seed as I do not see them losing their last 3 conference games. Crucial WE beat Houston Sunday though.

If we win Sunday, on paper it looks as if Memphis, UCONN and UCF would finish 10-8 in conference and tied for 4th. Unsure how the tie breaker would play out in that scenario as we would have split with UCONN and UCF and none of us would have beaten either of the top 2 seeds. Maybe it then goes to how each of us faired against Houston???

Other than a couple more wins due to a weaker SOS this team has now earned an NIT. NIT has changed since the NCAA bought it and it is much harder to make these days. Many of Cal's NIT teams would not have made it under the current rules.

In many ways this team has taken a step backwards from the previous two years.

I think the tie breaker system used in the American goes overall record, then head to head, then record against higher seeds, then, if all else fails, a coin toss. That (coin toss) is what decided the top two seeds in the first conference tournament.

There are lots of young men on this team not named Lawson who have not had such heady high school experiences. Maybe they might get a little excited having their season extended. I hope they are not as jaded as you seem to think the Lawson's are.

But only about 4 that actually play and maybe one that is high D1 player.
