Checking in on Rice, who is down 10-4 at home against SELA in the 8th. About to drop the series.

Owls have 3 errors and a wild pitch in the inning. Otto chased out.

Maybe Ol' Crusty has finally lost it.

IMO the talent level at Rice dropped significantly the last 5 or so years.

Otto has pitched about 1400 innings in the last couple years.

Graham has a history of burning them out.

Not sure about that 1400 number, but yes, there's definitely a trend with Rice pitchers.

Some pretty incredible pitching talents have come through there over the years and none of them are ever worth anything in the majors (though I'll give a tip of the cap to Philip Humber for throwing a perfect game in 2012). The general consensus is that after they come through Rice their arms are totally dead by the time they get to the majors. I certainly respect Wayne Graham, but he does have a reputation of ruining young arms.

My guess is that Rice will probably turn it around, they tend to come out of the gates slow. Their lineup is improved this year but Duplantier and Fox are both huge losses on the mound.

Reading the Tulane board, sounds like their new coach is the baseball version of EJ.

Our Friday night starter has pitched very little at this level, and our Sunday starter is a true frosh. Hopefully, they will improve as the season progresses.

Currently, the good news is that we have beaten the bad teams whereas in previous years we had 2 or 3 bad losses already.
