Unfortunately it's the same joke he tells repeatedly. He's the Dane Cook of FCC zingers.

I don't really follow soccer closely, but this seems like a win/win. An opportunity for the Bearcats to play an MLS team on our campus. More exposure for our team and our University.
Bearcat soccer fans--is this a competitive advantage locally or regionally for recruiting?

I have to agree. As much as I dislike the soccer this seems like a win-win. For once, thank you FCC.

No...the Homegrown contracts apply to players in academies now, as opposed to them previously applying to any amateurs in their geographic footprint. Technically, UC and FC Cincinnati can't really have a strong partnership, so it really would only play into positive recruitment if we have prospective students interested in soccer more than anything else.

Still good practice for the UC players right? Add that to a big crowd on hand and I don’t see how it wouldn’t be a great experience for the players.

Yeah I think this would be awesome to a UC player. And to a potential recruit, it would be something very appealing about UC if it were an annual thing I'd get to play in. Let's face it, this is the end of the road for most UC players as far as competitive soccer I would think. One shot to compete or just be on the field playing MLS pros? Holy moley, that's a story that will be remembered for their lifetime.
Think if the UC baseball team could get an exhibition game with the Reds on campus and how pumped the players would be. In fact, there's an idea worth pursuing even if it was at GABP instead of that last exhibition they play post spring training in AZ but just before Opening Day. Free admission, charge for concessions. Reserve a bunch of seats for local HS and knothole (or whatever they are called these days) teams. Maybe some for inner city kids. Have a lottery for the rest of the tickets. Talk about spreading goodwill. I'm not even charging for the idea (beyond a cut of concessions of course).

While I’m genuinely pleased Cincinnati now has an MLS team I have to ask does anyone else find soccer lingo annoying? I don’t even know why, but I do.
Any word on the new contract?

I like how their fans are "supporters".
I used to wear a supporter back in my athletic days...

I guess it's because I played soccer as a kid and no one ever called it a "pitch." I don't know about "lads," but no one in the U.S. uses that word.

As an FYI in case anyone was thinking about attending - I just saw this match was canceled because of the weather we're supposed to get at the beginning of the week.

RE: Nippert Defilement - Saw it Tonight
Has anyone seen Nippert lately? I've seen pictures on local news and it appears FC Cincinnati put up a chain link fence around the bottom to separate the fans from the players. Are soccer fans so bad they need to be corralled?
Will the fence come down when football season starts? I hope so. I have a couple granddaughters who aspire to be cheerleaders someday. I would hate to think they will be cut off from the Bearcat and the Cheerleaders at football games. Especially the Cheerleaders who graciously talk to my granddaughters and pose for pictures.
Does anyone know what is the plan?
