Exclamation NTR: Roy Williams is sending a bottle of Christal to Laremy Tunsill in appreciation.
The NCAA sure backhanded the University of Mississippi; UNC must have really done some terrible things.

They will never put UNC on probation. This is the longest non investigation in NCAA history.

The UNC investigation is still ongoing.

Also, there was nothing in yesterday's NOA about Tunsil or draft night. So, despite what the OM flock will have you believe, this was not a reopening of the case due to draft night.

Tunsil's comments were what spurred the NCAA into action, and got the ball rolling. It was so public they had to react. UNC is facing academic fraud allegations, and my gut tells me they are waiting until after this Bball season to release them. $7million is a lot of cash from mississippi, and it is a brilliant PR move for the NCAA. They get to hammer a team in the precious $EC, without actually hurting any programs that would impact their Football Playoff. They also don't want to impact their Basketball Playoff product either (in UNC's case). They have two revenue streams - the playoffs (FB & BB) and Enforcement penalties. They might be able to keep letting it ride until Roy has a down year (maybe this year) so they don't canabalize revenue.

I don't think NCAA is in charge of the football playoffs. Are they?

Bitter? No.

I am laughing at all the black bear lovers on this board who kept constantly saying:

"This investigation has nothing to do with the current staff. Freezus our Lord is sinless in all of this."

I don't hear those folks coming back and saying
"I was wrong. The black bear program was dirty, and Hughdas betrayed us."

I am just really surprised is all, but not "bitter." Maybe "giddy", maybe "smug", maybe even "amused" but nowhere close to bitter.

I thought the NCAA got a portion of the revenue from the Playoffs. I could be wrong.

$7M is not a big deal for the Black Bears there only receiving $40M from the $EC.... matter of fact the $7M penalty is more than we receive from our conference in 2 years!! pretty pathetic...

$7M is less than a third of our ANNUAL BB revenue in '07-'14 years (averaged). We sure do have a lot of brand new members with the cap initials TT posting now.

Hey I'm a Tiger fan just saying that it sucks to only receive $3M a year from our conference!! I blame it on RC and Shirley..

That's all spin. They are going to feel this much more than any direct monetary penalty assessed.

Maybe ole miss can make up the shortfall by upping the student fees.
