LU Baseball off to a good start
Taking the series at Chuck was a very good showing. I thought we were gonna sweep after the first two games. We've shown we can beat some pretty good teams so playing ECU next will be another good test followed by a home series with a good Bethune-Cookman team. If we beat ECU and take at least 2/3 from B-C we will be 17-9, which doesn't look that great, but comes against pretty good competition. I like the direction and play of this team. D.J. Artis and Sammy Taormina are playing great and our pitching looks very solid so far.

Badly need to sweep Radford this weekend and make a statement that we are the team to beat in the Big South. That would put us at 19-11 and 7-2 in conference play. We'd own the best record in the BSC..... which isn't really saying much. If we get to 35 wins this season we'd be doing awesome.

So far, so good. We are where I thought we'd be.
Now, we have a chance to really make hay and create some separation.
We have two tough OOC road games. We'll be lucky to win one. Hopefully we can beat JMU. I doubt we'll win at #5 UNC. We have two home series against Winthrop and GW. We should win those series. After the next two weeks I see us at 24-14. At best 25-13. Still not great but pretty competitive. I figure we'll be 11-3 in conference play.

Why did LFSN stop televising baseball games?

They are still doing a few. I believe that home games not televised have all been on Facebook.

Uh, remember when I said we'd be lucky to win one of the road games. I was thinking about JMU from earlier in the season, not knowing they have lost 7/8 games. What Liberty did to them at their stadium was ridiculous! 26-1 and called after 7 innings. I listened and Coach Jackson was doing what he could to keep the score down. Had that not happened and the game went the distance LU would have easily eclipsed 30 runs on JMU.

Well, that was a disasterous weekend. Can't get swept at home. That's crazy! We lost first place.

Well, that took a little sting out of last weekend. Way to bounce back.

It sure did. We have some quality OOC wins. If we finish strong, but still lose the conference tournament, I wonder if our resume is strong enough for an at large bid. I assume we need 35-36 wins though.

There is so much at stake in the GW series this weekend. A sweep would really help.

I feel a 7 game winning streak coming. Campbell/UVa/Longwood.

What happened to Andrew Yacyk? Is he still on the team?

Was looking over the roster. We will need some players to really step up big next year because we are losing a lot. Either that or we need some Wonderboy recruits.

RE: LU Baseball off to a good start
Yacyk had a shoulder injury prior to the season and was supposed to have surgery. I saw him DH in an intrasquad game and I heard the surgery was already scheduled. I'm not sure if he actually had the surgery or if he is trying to rehab.

Hopefully he can come back next year. We can use his ability and experience.

Collegesportsmadness.com picks LU to win the Big South and make the NCAA tournament.
Baseball America picks Winthrop.
D1 Baseball picks Winthrop.

Looks like we are gonna have to win the conference tournament to get in, even if we sweep UNC and Duke the rest of the season, our schedule won't be strong enough for an at large bid.

Kinda feel like we gave that one away to UVa. But they are the #14 team in the nation and deserve credit for wrecking our bullpen. If anything, we've shown how competitive we are with the nations top teams.

We have chosen a very bad time of the season to play poorly. Lost 3/4. Totally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory tonight against Duke. That would have been a nice resume' game. We were on the NCAA bubble. I think after the last four we are no longer there. Hopefully we can sweep a decent Presbyterian team for some damage control. We have to win the Big South tourny now to make the post season. Currently sit at 30-20 on the season with an RPI of 56.

I am dumbfounded by the end of our season and feel bad for the boys. The wheels completley fell off the wagon. After beating as many quality teams as we did this year, how we could flame out against a very light BSC is unthinkable. But the game of baseball is very fickle. I hope for better things next year.

Typical Liberty. Good first season for the new coach. Build for next year.

Was it? Was it really a good season for him? Or was it just a typically average LU season?

RE: LU Baseball off to a good start
Usually you expect growing pains with a new coach but I think Liberty pretty much avoided that until the end of the season.
