ESPN: Mike Norvell the next Tom Herman?
From espn.com:

Mike Norvell, Memphis
Years: 1
Record: 8-5
Age: 35

Norvell continued the offensive momentum in his debut season that Justin Fuente started in Memphis, as the Tigers averaged 38.5 points per game. The first-year head coach collected signature wins against eventual AAC champion Temple and Houston, though the Tigers were outclassed against most of their top competitors (Navy, Tulsa, South Florida, Western Kentucky). Norvell has more to prove at Memphis, but he is mature for his age and well-regarded among decision-makers around college football.

Outclassed by USF? We lost by a touchdown...

I do like how they left Ole Miss out of our "top competition", though.

I'll take 13-1, AAC champion, and Peach Bowl win over Florida State next year.

Not only did we lose by only a TD, but we DID get robbed on that last pass play to Miller in the end zone. Their DB clearly was holding his arm, you could see it from where I was sittings, and the pictures in the newspaper showed. But I will say that USF did look a click better than we were for most of the game (especially the line play...duh). The Tigers just refused to give up and hung in the the whole game. It was a game of big plays.

The losses that surprised me were Tulsa and Western Kentucky.

The next two years will play out and we'll know how good Coach Norvell is. I like what I see so far. The key will be future QBs.
