The Nats should still be very good, but I can trust them only so much. The Cubs have some decisions to make and the Dbacks really aren't good enough to challenge the Dodgers. Not to mention the latter apparently has 80 million to spend on an already great team. Doesn't make me feel good

I hope you're right, and I think it's reasonable to expect the Dodgers to go after a couple of high performing free agents. They'll even be able to do so while reducing payroll! (Re the $80MM, that's a bit of an exaggeration because it includes Darvish's $11MM salary of which they obviously only paid a portion.) ETA: I didn't realize Forsythe, at $9MM, has a club option. I think they'll exercise it...

I expect the roster to be better next year, so it'll take underperformance and/or injuries for Dodgers to drop off.

RE: 2017 MLB Season Thread
Dodgers still have a lot of dead weight in '18. Adrian Gonzalez with 22.36 million. Brandon McCarthy who was radioactive in the World Series- 11.5 million. Scott Kazmir 17.67 million.

according to BR they're at 202 million right now. So that number is already over the luxury tax. So they will have go pay I guess 20% more than anything they sign. So a guy for 10 million is now 12 million. (might be more as not sure where they are on the number of times offender. IF it's 3 times it's 50%). That's going to get prohibitive.

After doing a little reading on this, I think it's more likely the Dodgers go after at most one free agent and leverage organizational depth to bring in others. I still think they want to shore up the outfield (Left or Center) and starting pitching. On the trade block: Alex Wood, Joc Pederson probably headline. But I could also see them trading Forsythe, moving Taylor to 2nd, and looking at 2 new outfielders. And there's no way they'll let a luxury tax get in the way of going after Otani (if the league and MLBPA can get that mess untangled).
