RE: 2017 MLB Season Thread
So we go into this weekend with 5558 homers on the season. The record all time is 5693 so only 135 homers back. Guess it's possible if this is a crazy weekend the record gets set on Sunday(wouldn't it be something if it got set on Sunday night baseball?).

RE: 2017 MLB Season Thread
So Colorado's last 8 days shows something that has hurt Colorado this year. When they've gotten hot- they have never gained ground on whoever it was they were competing with...

Colorado 6-2 last 8 games- 4 each with the Dodgers and D'backs. Arizona went 4-3 and was already going into the period 7.5 games up so only lost 1.5 of those games....

But Milwaukee in period was 5-1 and St Louis went 5-2 in the period. And now Colorado is only 2.5 games up on both of them and 2 in the loss column with 15-16 games to go. And with the schedule the way it is with the Brewers and Cards both playing Cubs(who are 0.5 games up on Rockies and 3 games up on Brewers/Cards)- Central team chasing Colorado will be getting better as we go on here guaranteed.

ok maybe absolute best stat ever

The Indians have allowed 37 runs during their 22-game win streak.
The Mets have allowed 39 runs in their last 22 innings.

RE: 2017 MLB Season Thread
saw this stat- of all MLB pitchers who threw at least 50 innings since August 1- only Aaron Nola and that's right Bartolo Colon have a worse ERA than Chris Sale has in that period. And it's not like Sale is that much better than they are- Sale is at 4.25 in that period, and Nola is at 4.37 and Colon is at 4.50.

The AL Cy Young race is all but over. If Kluber has 3 good starts, there's nothing that Sale can do now.

I'll say this as well, you wonder if the success that Kluber has had down the stretch(8-1 1.67 since Aug 1)- after not pitching much at all in April/May(only 37.1 innings of work- by comparison Sale had 78) if you think that this may be a sea change in terms of how teams handle their pitchers. Ease them into the season and then work them like a horse from June on. Kluber since 6/1 has thrown 22 innings more than any other MLB pitcher.

well right now I think I will say the AL Cy Young race IS over. Kluber with 7 shutout innings- extending his shutout streak to 22 innings....

Kluber now 16-4 and in line for win with a 2.35 ERA. Kluber now has a 0.51 ERA lead.

I was a bit off. Kluber since then has had a 1.84 ERA. But now since 8/1 his ERA was 1.52 ERA. Sale has struggled some, but Kluber has really won it.

Well Stanton hits #56 today. Only 10 guys have hit more than he has in a single season. With 10 games to go now after today. With 6 of those being only at Arizona and Colorado- 2 pretty decent hitting parks.

He's now up to #197 in career homers at 264. He and Justin Upton are the only 2 guys in MLB top 400 in homers hit that are less than 30 right now.
