Quote:The five sales, which also include C-17 logistics support for the UK and AH-64D Apache support for Kuwait, total $1.85 billion in potential sales for US companies. And while there may be a few sales that still stagger in, these sales likely represent the last major clutch of defense sales from the Obama administration.

The sales bring the total foreign weapon sales cleared by State for fiscal 2017 to $47.1 billion, keeping it on pace to shatter the all-time sales record set in 2012.

Quote:U.S. President Barack Obama's administration has offered Saudi Arabia more than $115 billion in weapons, other military equipment and training, the most of any U.S. administration in the 71-year U.S.-Saudi alliance, a report seen by Reuters has found.

The report, authored by William Hartung of the U.S.-based Center for International Policy, said the offers were made in 42 separate deals, and the majority of the equipment has yet to be delivered. Hartung told Reuters the report would be made available publicly on Sept. 8.

The report said U.S. arms offers to Saudi Arabia since Obama took office in January 2009 have included everything from small arms and ammunition to tanks, attack helicopters, air-to-ground missiles, missile defense ships, and warships. Washington also provides maintenance and training to Saudi security forces.

Count me as not trusting the Saudi's one iota. I see them as the problem in the ME..not the answer.

Devil you know...

Imagine what would occur if the Saudi family lost control.

For most of the Middle East, the best answer is the least objectionable dictator (or despot).

Well, if they fell then radicals would have access to a lot of world class weaponry. That's the reason we shouldn't sell it to them. If they want protection they can build us a state of the art base and pay us 300% of actual cost to protect them.

I trust them as far as I can throw them. Remember that the majority of the 9/11 terrorists came from there. We do need to have them fight Iran but that won't happen. They'll want us to come to their protection while at the same thing screwing us with their terrorists ties.

Yeah, it appears cb4029 didn't get the memo that everything is Obama's fault for the next 8 years.

Not too bright, that one.
