What is surprising is that Charlotte and Georgia State haven't locked up bigger P5 programs. I think Charlotte has Duke coming but that may be it. I don't believe GA State has gotten anyone yet. Proof that big markets don't seem to be everything to the P5.

It's kind of hard to tell what their reasoning is. Maybe just a convincing AD is the difference.

edit: Charlotte has the following at home. Duke 2021, Maryland 2022, North Carolina 2025.

One thing is crystal clear. JB needs to call UNC. They are visiting EVERYONE.

We also have Vanderbilt Home and Home 07-coffee3

FBS was a big mistake for App according to some high level folks w/in our AD. They will soon get a visit from the Tarheels whilst the Dukes have their pick of the litter between CCSU, St Francis and Morehead St.

Potomac, there is one and only one reason for me to put JMU in the stay FCS column and that's JB. I have 100% confidence should we make a move to FBS with JB as our AD, we would continue to play a very weak OOC schedule. I would be willing to bet that the NS AD picked up the phone to call JB and the conversation was as simple as this. "Mr. Bourne would JMU be interested in scheduling a football game with us in the future?" JB then responded, "certainly having another VA team on our schedule is appealing." "Then Mr. Bourne, let's just make it a home-and-home deal. I'll send a contract over. Great to talk with you. By the way what wine do you prefer?"

I'll never say he is a low life scum, because he is not. He's a really nice guy, but he's not picking up the phone to call anyone, not now, and not as a FBS team. He takes what walks though the door and hits him over the head. He is tired, just watch him. Don't listen to what comes out of his tongue, watch his body language.

Yeah he didn't pick up the phone to schedule us playing West Virginia at Fedex.

I'll give him credit for answering the phone but I think it's pretty well accepted that the game was put together by Russ Potts.

Details in the WVA gazette which I believe was an early pioneer in Fake news.

Yes, you are correct, Jeffy picked up the phone when it rang. People, JMU scored that deal, not Jeffy. There is no indication that Jeffy has dialed a number (cold called) any team or university in the past 8 years. I absolutely believe he called Duke to begin that conversation, but there are few others where I believe he initiated the conversation. Probably some of the NC Central, Morehead State, CCSU, Alcorn State, and St. Francis deals came from him and possibly Akron. If anyone believes he did anything other than say yes when the phone rang for the game at Fed Ex, then I've got a wonderful ocean front you might be interested in. By the way, it's located in AZ.

Georgia State's schedule isn't bad. Home and homes with UNC, Vandy, Memphis, Army, and Western Michigan are on the schedule.

You sir, have stepped into dangerous territory. This board does not tolerate GA State. We are not aware of any reason the CAA accepted GA State. It's not possible that GA State has a goal and is working towards achieving said goal, not possible that GA State can create an interesting schedule and build a fan base...case closed from Harrisonburg, Rockingham County.

And yes, Ga State is 'faking it till they make it'. They were not a credible member of the CAA in football. Their rollout of FBS football was a disaster. But even at 3-9 last year, Ga State did not put a hopeless product on the field. Ask Wisconsin about that. They've beaten Ga Southern twice in a row. They'll have a 'right sized' stadium next year. They have a pretty interesting schedule. The football product is getting there. I think they're going to make it work. I'm not looking forward to playing at Ga State next year. Pretty much everyone in the Belt has gone from counting that game as a guaranteed win to hoping that we aren't a team that gets caught by them. Eventually, they'll beat enough of us consistently to become a team that people look to as a statement game.

I have to admit, its been interesting to watch. Ga State conjured a FBS program out of thin air on nothing but vision. There were certainly some cringeworthy moments along the way, but they're getting there.

JMU won the the FCS National Championship last year. Thats quite an achievement (I'm not being sarcastic). No idea what JMU's plan is, but it looks like they're doing something right. Whether FBS is in the cards for them or not....I don't know.
