Here are some things I pick up from a quick look at things

* Is NIU out of the race for the a top 4 seed, No. Very very slim, but if NIU ran the table at 4-0 and got some help, the door is still open a crack.

* Of all the possibilities, the most probable outcome right now would still be 10 NIU @ 7 CMU. So in essence, if you like travelling to Mt Pleasant to see NIU play, you may very well have 2 chances to do that in the next several weeks.

* Realistically, if NIU goes 0-4 and 1-3, they will be on the road for a first round campus game.

* Realistically if NIU can go 2-2 or 3-1 to finish out, in all likelihood they would host a first round game.

So unfortunately, to have a post-season game at the Convo, NIU is going to have to find a way to win a minimum of 1 of 3 very tough road games @ CMU, @ EMU, @ BSU. And of course , if they drop that game at home to WMU, probably would need to win 2 of those 3 on the road.

A very bad position we've put ourselves in, let's see how the team responds.

And change fast with CMU. CMU is capable of 60 points in one half. If NIU sits back offensively again CMU wins. That 4 pt swing at end of the half was big. NIU just can't go into shutdown mode. CMU scores too fast and has too poor of a defense to protect the lead

Did Coach Montgomery tell him he was done for the game when he came off? It looked like that might have been the case. Porter wont be back next year, I think that is nearly automatic.

Not sure but Porter sure looks like he thinks he is done for the night. But that might be how he always is on the bench when having bad game

I was wondering the same thing, something tells me in this case Montgomery said you are done for the night. Porter made a few back to back dumb plays, but maybe this is why Coach Monty doesn't develop players.

pretty unreal performance. Never have seen Kozinski shoot that bad. The obvious damper to this game is that Porter probably is done at NIU.

2 bad turnovers in 2nd half. But Monty said he played with good energy in first half during post game interview

He made 2 bad turnovers and Coach Montomgery went Rod Carey on him and humiliated him.

The only small asterisk is that it is CMU's defense. That might be the worst defense I have seen in college basketball in a long time. But yes, what a performance to win by 20 on the road against any team.

Need to win 1 game in the last 3 to get a Monday night post-season game at home

After tonight NIU should have a two game lead on BG, EMU and a four game lead on Miami. They have a one game lead on CMU but they own the tiebreaker on them. NIU would need to lose their remaining three games not to host a game Monday.

Porter always acts pissed when he comes out. You all saw exactly why Porter gets benched. Monty didn't sound like he had a problem with Porter.
