In MAC play we are 3-5 at home and 4-3 on the road, so it doesn't seem to matter. Just need good shooting and with our defense we will be okay.

The home/away record doesn't offer much comfort to me, its more statistical noise. Much rather would have home game. But lets just have NIU win out and have a shot at 3 or a 4.

Overall probably doesn't matter too much, if you do have to play a first round game at all, the odds obviously to win the championship really drop sharply

They needed this game . Glad they won. They need to get hot at the right time if they're going to make a run at the MAC, and get the bid.

Monty has brought the program up to the middle of the MAC. A first round road game would mean they have taken a step backwards. A first round home game is a must. It doesn't mean you will win but atleast it means your not going backwards. Monty will have until this sophomore class graduates to get them to the top of the MAC.

Cagey, I personally feel he will end up extended again but if they are still a 8-10, 9-9 MAC team he will be let go. Who will pay? My guess is Monty would get a high major assistants job and NIU would only pay the difference. If you don't think their isnt any pressure on Monty to win just because of money then you're naive! Rod Carey also has a contract but I promise you this 2017 is a make or break year for him.

Women losing worse at CMU than men won by yesterday. Not sure Carlson knows how to coach defense. CMU with 52 with 4 minutes to go in 2nd period

Didn't you post in a different thread that Monty was extended to 2020-21? If that's the case, why on earth would 2018-19 earn him yet another extension?

Because, I believe that the 2018-19 season will be viewed as a big one for the program. The big class of Porter, Wilson, Pauga, Bradley and Key will be seniors. Wilson won't be their and who knows about Porter but it was thought of as a great class, tops in the MAC that year. They could be special with the addition of German and if that's the case of course no extend him again. It's very hard to recruit if the coach only has a couple years left on contract. Recruits and their parents want to know that you will be around.

Even if the coach has the years there is no guarantees.

I am not sure how much the rest of the season should decide Coach Montgomery's fate, just because of how sensitive seeding is to the last 3 games. Whatever evaluation concerning Montgomery should be able to be made now. Right now NIU can finish anywhere from a 3 seed to an 11 seed with 3 games to play.
