2/18 MBB re-ranks
Akron and Buffalo claim top 2 spots, middle of conference is one big log jam! The bottom third is seeing BG and BSU rising and NIU dropping.

EMU is still way too high, but these are actually starting to sort themselves out a little bit... Ball State and NIU too low

I might agree about NIU and BSU but then with how deep the conference is you kind of ask yourself who you would bump to move them up and that's where it gets tough. I think with the MAC this year it's "number 11 is the new number 5". I feel like teams from 8 to 12 are playing at levels more typical of 5 to 9.most years

EMU has lost 6 in a row...... They are not the best team in the west. Your math is flawed.

EMU should be dead last and needs a new coach. What a debacle!

are the stats from EMU's 4 NAIA games factored into the calculation?

Let's forget the metrics and look at some recent facts on the court as we head toward the MAC Tournament, with future neutral court play added to the equation.

1. Akron still the best team in the league.

2. Buffalo now playing the best and looking the best.

3. Bobcats have not folded and still tough to beat.

4. Ball State one of few teams playing as pre-season projected.

5. Western Michigan starting to wake up.

6. Kent State -- different day, different team.

6. Toledo -- different day, different team II.

8. Central Michigan -- three games in three days???

9. Eastern Michigan -- Still dangerous until knocked out.

10-11-12 -- NIU, Bowling Green, Miami.

I guess I think of it this way, if there was one team I wouldn't want to play in the West, I do have to say imo it would be EMU. I think overall they are still have the most talent in the West and are the best team. That doesn't say a whole bunch for the West this year with a lot of average teams. Its a deep average though, no real bad teams.

EMU is easily out strategized though. All the talent in the world can't overcome that.

So just post an opinion poll? Losing 6 in a row does not make them dangerous. When Toledo holds you to 57... your offense is struggling. Why do you have their offense so high? They cant keep up!!

He had BSU low last year too which made him look nuts until they tanked 4 of the last 5 and made him 'right'.

BSU has plenty of holes. But I don't know how you can be 6-0 vs your own division, currently be first in said divsion and still be behind 4 of the teams in that division.

Because it's a mathematical formula that he made up hoping it would effectively represent actual results. Might want to wait for 2.0 or 3.0.

It's also a fact that BSU, at 4th in the conference, is one game out of 8th or 9th.

The MAC is so tight in the middle this year...

If that 4th team wins out they can be the 2 seed. If his 4th team (EMU) wins out, they'll be 9-9 and likely a 6 seed. Thats the difference. BSU has a 3 game lead on EMU with 4 left. How the ladder is so far ahead of the first makes little sense. SOS is part of it... but eventually when you play the common opponents and one does 3+ games better... you can agree that the one winning those games should be ranked higher.

I think though, what I am trying to get out of this, is not so much seeding, but just how good the teams are. If there is one team in the tourney I would not want to play from the West, I have to admit its still EMU

I don't want to play the better teams. I prefer to play the bottom teams. But it's the time of year when the bottom teams like to flatter themselves and say teams don't want to face them in the tourney. Yes, they do. They'd much rather face the less successful teams than the more successful teams. PO-tential is a myth this time of year.

Yet you ignore the fact they have lost 6 in a row and their board has basically given up on them.
