Because it's a mathematical formula that he made up hoping it would effectively represent actual results. Might want to wait for 2.0 or 3.0.
It's also a fact that BSU, at 4th in the conference, is one game out of 8th or 9th.
The MAC is so tight in the middle this year...
If that 4th team wins out they can be the 2 seed. If his 4th team (EMU) wins out, they'll be 9-9 and likely a 6 seed. Thats the difference. BSU has a 3 game lead on EMU with 4 left. How the ladder is so far ahead of the first makes little sense. SOS is part of it... but eventually when you play the common opponents and one does 3+ games better... you can agree that the one winning those games should be ranked higher.
I think though, what I am trying to get out of this, is not so much seeding, but just how good the teams are. If there is one team in the tourney I would not want to play from the West, I have to admit its still EMU
Sign me up for any team in the West if it means avoiding Buffalo and Ohio. No team in the West scares me, especially a team Akron beat by double figures in Ypsi.

The funny thing is if you win in Buffalo you increase the odds that they slip to 4th and into the Zips half of the bracket.

Can't argue with that, the West is dismal. My WMU prediction at least came true, about WMU being the 2nd half surprise. That might be one team I might want to avoid. Wilder can go off at any time. EMU is simply the most baffling team I have ever seen. Murphy should be in trouble with how much talent there is.
