Delaware Part 2
It's soooo smart for the Tribe to say no, no, no to anything short of the NCAA. Would we deign to grace the NIT with our presence?

It doesn't matter. The tribe has zero shot at any postseason tournament if they don't win three games in Charleston.

RE: Delaware Part 2
The Tribe has to win the conference tourney to make the NCAA's.
The Tribe will not win the regular season in the CAA, and has no shot at an NIT at large.
Win the last two games, finish third in the CAA, and win at least one game in the CAA tourney, Tribe will absolutely be asked to play in CBI/CIT. Don't know if there's a Vegas this year.

There has been no official announcement there will even be a CBI/CIT this year...and I would bet the house that if there is, we will not be participating. That tourney is pitiful, is played in anonimity, and W&M will not spend the entry fee on it if there actually is one...rather see the money go to either assistant coaches' salaries or recruiting.

Of course we will not be participating. We didn't participate when we had Marcus; why would we participate now?
The only post-season memory we have of Marcus after all things CAA were completed was a one and done at Tulsa.
There are many things that go into building a program, and some of those things are not available to the Tribe ... like an attractive home non-conference schedule.
God forbid we get creative and try to do something in March against other schools in the same boat after all things CAA are done. Who knows ... maybe after doing something like that all the schools in the same boat might ... just might .... start talking amongst themselves, and build good non-conference schedules for all.

Yep, won at the House of Horrors, and the team is good enough to play in a post-season tournament not named CAA, NCAA, or NIT.

Maybe the players and coaches don't want to play in the CBI or CIT. It is clear that for the seniors the focus is totally on winning in Charleston. Since the NIT is not an option, it seems like it is NCAA or bust. Given how close we have been each of the last 3 seasons, it is understandable.

RE: Delaware Part 2
I think that was the consensus in 2014, when we lost the championship to Delaware in heartbreaking fashion.
In 2015, we went to the NIT. Good effort though lost to a very good Tulsa team by 3 points, Tarpey missing a game tying shot at the buzzer.
Last year, I believe the decision had been made to participate in the Vegas tourney if snubbed by the NIT (which we were - the highest ranking RPI team not picked for NCAA or NIT). Then, all the expected teams that were to participate in Vegas (the bigger names - NC State, Northwestern, Boise State) pulled out. At that juncture, we pulled out as well. The Vegas tourney was teetering though decided to move on with 5 or 6 teams. I thought our decision to pull at that time was a good one.
So, not sure how much of all this you can blame on the school or admin. The one instance it really bothered me was 2014 yet the official word was it was the players who voted no.
I believe this year's team will want to play post season so I would bet we will be a part of one of these tourneys if we don't sweep in Charleston.

I do not agree about Towson. To recap that game:
- Omar did not play
- 2-3 other guys were sick
- There were numerous bad calls that went against us, none more egregious than the non-call on the hooking/tripping of Malinowski (a call so bad that Feinstein was still talking about it on TV a week later)
- After all that, we still only lost by 2 on the road.
So, full strength and with unbiased officiating (never a given), we should be able to handle Towson. Plus, isn''t John Davis out for the year? I do agree that even with a win, the Towson physicality will drain the energy tank. The teams that I worry about are UNCW, Northeastern, and Hofstra (although won't play Pride in tournament until semis at earliest).

I'm most concerned about UNCW and NU...two teams that smoked us away from our court.

Looking at it from the opposite view point, I'm sure nobody wants to play us in the first round either.

Charleston is the team we (and most other teams) probably least want to play. They have 3 legit scorers in Riller, Chealey, & Brantley and actually play defense unlike most of the teams in the CAA.

UNCW has gotten better on defense as the season has rolled along. I still think W&M can put up points on them if there's a round 3. Styles make fights, as the saying goes. I worry more about defense-first teams.

RE: Delaware Part 2
I am assuming we want to play Delaware since the conversation started on the Delaware thread.
Charleston also has a homecourt advantage(sort of, although probably not close to what VCU used to have in Richmond during the tourney)
My consistent comment was not that we cannot beat Towson, but that their style would adversely affect us in subsequent rounds so I did not want to play them. Otherwise, I do not care who we play. At out best, we can beat anyone. If we don't bring full effort, don't get lots of assists with lots of guys involved, and don't play any defense, we will be out on Saturday.
At the offensive end, we have to make shots which we tend to do when we share the ball and not give it away.
If the other 9 schools want to take ZableNoise's option and forfeit to us, that works for me.

I honestly am not scared of any other team in the CAA. There is *no* "team we don't want to play". As much as this pains me, the team that we seem to have had the most problem with so far this year is... James Madison.
